Project: Casemod - Hardware@Wall - Done!
Habedere,
FINALLY it's done.
A huge project with many great but also many bad moments.
I used 3x L-profiles and 9x M8x60mm screws to mount the panel to my office wall.
It's mounted directly above my monitor and can be controlled (on, off, reset, DVD open, close etc.) easily. So I don't need some external control unit.
Final thoughts
I like it very much and it's really impressive on the wall.
It's an eye catcher for our friends and visitors.
If you ask me about money and time...... too much and too long. :)
Would I do this again?
Yes, but some tasks totally different.
- Spruce (softwood) was not the best choice for the frame.
There are notches in the wood everywhere, which you can see through the leather. - Mayhem Pastel has a nice effect, but the particles settle out.
Visually not nice and the cooling performance is also reduced. - The Hardtube fittings are extremely sharp-edged, once tilted and the acrylic tube is scratched.
- It was a torment to create the sleeving/cable cover, I will never do this again in that way.
