@actifit Added Their Account Sign Up: The Apps Are Stepping UpsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #busy5 years ago

One of the changes made in Hard Fork 20 was the shift to Resource Credits. The idea behind this was to allow the applications/businesses to determine exactly what each activity cost on the blockchain. This would, in theory, allow for better planning as to what the costs would be run one's application.

Signing people up long is a problem on Steem. Before the Hard Fork, the basic way to get an account was through Steemit.com. The challenge with that is it was a couple week wait. Since the recent layoffs, this matter is only magnified with Steemit approving under 100 accounts a day. This is not going to lead to a high growth rate.

Hard Fork 20 did help to decentralize the sign up process. One of the activities that is assigned Resource Credits is account creation. Applications now have the ability to create accounts. Actually, anyone with enough Resource Credits can do it.

Another feature added is the ability to get accounts at a discounted rate. By "claiming" accounts, applications (and individuals) are able to use less lock in accounts before they need them. Those apps with larger delegations are finding they can claim thousands of different accounts. This should help the process move along quicker.

Thus far, we saw a couple applications implement this. A few others, like @steemhunt, are beta testing a sign up process. Out of these experiments, we are going to see different ideas emerge.

@actifit now added a sign up process to their site. They are creating their own model which they hope will attract users to onboard through that application.

The process being implemented by this application is seeking to solve two problems. First, is the sign up process. The second issue they are addressing is the getting away from the dependence upon SP as a business model. As we saw, that creates problems when the price of STEEM drops like it did.

Actifit is charging $10 in Steem for an account. Those who sign up through this process get a lot more than an account:

  • A Steem account which can be used for any application that is on the Steem blockchain.

  • The equivalent of $10 in AFIT tokens (right now 158.70 AFIT)

  • 10 SP delegated to the account for the first month.

  • A daily upvote which earns both STEEM and AFIT based upon the activity levels reached.

  • An instant 3% User Rank. Under the Actifit system, a higher User Rank increases the amount of upvote received, thus increase the STEEM and AFIT rewards paid on the post.

There is also a way to get compensated for referring people to the Actifit program.

The referral link is as follows: https://actifit.io/signup?referrer=mcfarhat with your username in place of mcfarhat.

The referral system is another avenue to get more tokens into the hands of those who are supporting the system. It also enables those who want to grow their holdings yet do not have the financial resources to invest.

This is what we are going to see going forward. The applications are taking on a bigger role and greater importance on the Steem blockchain. Yesterday, I wrote about how the most important thing we can do in 2019 is to help people understand that Steemit is not Steem. @actifit is a prime example of how true that it. This application is not a part of Steemit yet it is of Steem.

If this sign up process is successful, look for other applications to implement it. That is what is wonderful about the world of blockchain. A great idea can be passed throughout the entire ecosystem.

2019 is going to be a great year on the Steem blockchain.

I saw this as well and am excited to share with family and friends over the holiday. It may be a great time to do so as many people try to start a new year with fitness and health in mind!

I am a huge lover of actifit. I have already passed this in to friends not on steem. This a amazing growth I think..

Where did you find the value of the actifit token?

Posted using Partiko Android

It says it right on their site. It is in one of the screenshots I pasted.

Oh okay. I'm not sure how much I trust their valuation of their own token. Would be nice to see a market value!

It is impossible for a SMT to have a market value at this time without the tokens being created. That is the problem they face although the DApps can set their exchange whatever they want when giving tokens away.

It is part of the package people receive. They arent buying the AFIT in this instance, it is something given as an added incentive. The deal could have been $10 without any tokens.

When looking to sell, yes I agree then people will want market established prices.

In a way, if I can't sell then it is worth nothing to me, right now.

That is one view.

Of course, getting things at a discount when they are not liquid is how wealth is achieved. That is what happens with early entrants into the IPO game, before the offering takes place. Their shares are not liquid but they are worth a ton when they do hit market.

We will have a similar thing with a few of the SMT coins on here. They will have more value when the market opens. Others of course, will not.

Oh, I don't disagree with that. I have 100 steem delegated to them for that reason! I just don't think there is any good measure of its value right not. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for my 2500 actifit tokens to be worth that much!

Sounds strange... but SteemIt.com disappearing would probably be a good thing for the STEEM Network.

I am mainly using Busy.org and sometimes I post through eSteem, too. I couldn't care less about the main ugly green interface of SteemIt.com. It's so damn ugly it hurts.

I agree completely @trincowski.

Steemit stepping back from the social media aspect is a terrific thing for the Steem ecosystem. Let them just handle the development while the apps take care of the rest.

I use Busy and I started doing some on Steempeak.

Thank you so much for participating the Partiko Delegation Plan Round 1! We really appreciate your support! As part of the delegation benefits, we just gave you a 3.00% upvote! Together, let’s change the world!

I'm waiting for the moment @partiko will allow to transfer, power up, convert, buy and sell Steem through their wallet. Then Steemit will not be needed at all (presuming more DApps will be running their own full nodes)

Well @taskmaster4450, all this sounds well and dandy. However, I would like bring to your attention a few not very obvious things to ponder too for a little while regarding that signing people up here won't become a problem on Steem longer. };)

Yesterday, I wrote about how the most important thing we can do in 2019 is to help people understand that Steemit is not Steem.

Yeah! certainly Steemit is not Steem. And there are bizniz models among bizniz models to implement and make this blockchain greater... you know? :)

To the points you linked:

  1. Covered via apps handling it more and instant sign up and approval.
  2. We are basically to 2 keys anyway...most use the active and posting key. The master should never be used and the memo key is a waste once we have more messaging features.
  3. Resource Credits per transaction need to drop. This can happen two ways: the Witnesses decide to drop the price or activity increases at a rate that exceeds the cost of the entire blockchain. Either way we need RC to provide more to newer people (delegation of RC would also work).
  4. Accessibility to STEEM has to improve.

I would also add one more that applies to younger people.

They tend not to be bloggers but people who put up stuff that interests them. As long as they keep getting flagged by Steemcleaners and Cheetah, they are going to be turned away.

Certainly we still have issues and Steem is far from perfect. That said, this is a step forward.

Yep! I concur that this is a step forward. However, I considered it my duty to bring up these other aspects about our ecosystem to be discussed as well. :)

They are valid points and worthy of discussion. The Resource Credit issue is not being discussed although, at this point, with what took place with Steemit, there are a lot of issues on the table.

My hope is the RC per activity will drop organically as activity increases. Of course, that is the chicken or the egg: how can it drop without more users and how do you have more users without a drop.

Aha! that's exactly the current conundrum. Looking forward to witness how everything pan out. ;)
