Something from my bar whenever I feel like it episode DCCCXXIX
Bit of a special episode today. I found this old bottle of Black Velvet a couple of months ago. It was hidden in the bottom of the bar with a few other bottles. Tucked away and forgotten. I showed it to my Mom and the first thing she said was "You mean your Dad actually missed one?" Black Velvet was his liquor of choice. He loved the stuff. Even after he couldn't drink anymore due to medication he still tried. If he was still with us he would have been 82 this week. I don't know how old this bottle is It could have been one that was hid from him while he was still able to drink or one someone bought him after he couldn't and was tucked away. Either way it has to be over 25 years old. One thing that is odd about this bottle is if you look at the seal there is no code on it. It's a blank seal. The outer sleeve says imported on it and it has the seal but no tax stamp on the seal. Not sure what that means. If it was bought in Canada it probably wouldn't say imported. Could have been a duty free shop but I don't know how those work with tax stamps and seals.
