Easter basket from newspaper tubes

This step-by-step master class will be easy for those who have already worked with the technique of weaving from tubes. For those who do this for the first time, the instruction may seem complicated at first - in fact, you will master the process much faster than you think.

A homemade basket-tray will be a very useful craft for Easter. In it you can beautifully donate colored eggs or bring treats to everyone with whom you meet this holiday. The basket is useful to you and in everyday life after Easter - it will be possible to store various kitchen things, towels and other items of permanent use.

What do we need?

• cardboard tray for eggs (any size)
• very dense cardboard, you can double - 2 sheets
• newspaper rolls
• glue

How to weave a basket?

In this example, a standard egg tray for 30 pieces was taken. One row is cut off at this, so that the basket turns out to be rectangular, and not square. You can make a small Easter basket, taking a standard substrate for 10 eggs. You can also glue together two trays of 10 eggs to get a large substrate. Cut off the excess side and top parts.

We measure the dimensions of the tray and add to the received parameters of 2 centimeters, so that the tray freely entered our future Easter basket of newspaper tubes. We cut out two cardboard bases of this size - they will be the bottom of the basket-tray.

To the bottom of the basket we attach newspaper tubes with superglue. Their number may vary (depending on what size you plan to make an Easter basket). In this case, 8 tubes are attached to the long sides of the hand-made article, and to the short one - 6 pieces. It is also necessary to glue the tubes in the corners. Then we spread the bottom with a very thick layer of glue and cover it with a second cardboard. We put it under the press for a while (this is desirable, but not necessary). Then turn the structure over to the other side and bend the tubes upwards.

Now begin the weave basket for Easter eggs. To do this, simply pass the tubes one under the other: the first tube, the base, is bent around the front, the second one - from behind, etc. If you already wove baskets from newspaper tubes, then you understand what is at stake.

We finish the Easter basket with a standard "pigtail" (the corresponding instruction is also in the above-mentioned master class). Preliminarily leave 8 tubes (4 on each side) stick up - we will make a basket for Easter with a pen. We wove it into a regular pigtail-spikelet. At the meeting place of the two braids, we wind the winding and glue it.

It remains only to put the tray in our basket for eggs. If you know that you will not need it any more, and it will be useful only for Easter, then leave it just like that. If your basket is a paschal gift for someone, glue the tray to the bottom.

The resulting Easter basket can be painted and covered with a non-toxic varnish for crafts - so it will become even more elegant.
