Blockchain Music Challenge Season 2 - Round 2!

Welcome to Season 2 Round 2!
This season will be genre specific and we are going to be spinning that genre wheel to keep you on your toes lol. :D This will be a multi-platform contest, so if you are on Steemit, Whaleshares, WeKu it's all good.
For the 2nd round genre, we are going to go with PsyTrance!

You will have Ten(10) days to produce your entry!
The official contest days are: July 24th 2019 to August 4th 2019 at 11:59 PM EST! That leaves us 3 days to judge the entries, and get the winners selected. Each new round will be on a 14 day schedule, so keep your eyes peeled for new information about new rounds.
Posting Your Entries
Post your entries where ever you feel comfortable, just make sure that we can hear your music! I highly suggest that you use Choon as your primary source for uploading. It makes it easier to play for the shows, and Choon is the shit, so make it happen, thanks!Prizes
The prize pool for each round is as follows:FIRST PLACE WINNER: 4 SBD + 10 Steem + 300 Notes + 40 Points
SECOND PLACE WINNER: 3 SBD + 5 Steem + 200 Notes + 32 Points
THIRD PLACE WINNER: 2 SBD + 3 Steem + 100 Notes + 26 Points
FOURTH PLACE WINNER: 1 SBD + 2 Steem + 50 Notes + 20 Points

Grand Prize
The Grand Prize Pool for this season is 50,000 Notes on Choon!FIRST PLACE WINNER: 25000 Notes

FOURTH PLACE WINNER: 5000 Notes
The contest will run for 32 weeks, on a 14 day cycle. Whomever racks up the most points for the season will take home 1st place.
Judging Entries
All entries will be judged with a focus on creativity, sound quality and technicality. So bring your A Game! The judges will be @d-vine @jeffleinwand @chiefmappster and myself, plus a guest judge here and there... which will be announced when we have one for any particular round.Live Contest Show!
There will be a live show on the SMA Discord Server every other Wednesday at 9pm utc, hosted by @d-vine @jeffleinwand and myself, where we will discuss entries and play them for the audience. Arrangements will be made in advance to make sure that we can play your songs. We are looking forward to you joining us for the show!The Rules of the Road:
- Your song must be in the genre specified.
- Must be your song! If you are collaborating with someone we need to know.
- Make a post about your song/entry. Add a link from your post to the current bmc post!
- Add a link to your post in the contest room - blockchain-music-contest!
- Your entry must be posted within the Ten (10) day time period.

Really really sad to tell ya it's not happening here this round despite all the work already invested. There is simply too much going on in my life these couple of weeks which I have to surrender to and put the passion on the backburner for a little while longer :(
So it will be a late release but a proper one. Which I think I can live with despite my protesting ego ;)
However this round already did bring out some awesome new milestones for me personally in my creative process, so thank you guys a ton for choosing this theme and restarting SMA with such a bang these last weeks <3

Ok, it's not quite the genre I thought it was but I still love this kind of music! I had to learn some more production techniques that I had no idea about but today I've made great inroads to a track that hopefully will be classed as Psytrance (but with a Havey twist) :D
The next day or two hopefully will upload it to Choon and DSound :)

I learned that it's more Goa or Trance what I like and not really Psytrance - I also had to learn some new things and I'm still not sure if my track will be classified as Psytrance - hehe ;) - I am very curious how your track will sound....lol.. and mine when finished ;)

Psytrance covers such a wide load of styles, I think it will be hard to go wrong :0)
Definitely when you mention Goa. 20 years ago, it was all called Goa-trance. Fast, slow(er), psychedlic, melodic or dark - it was all Goatrance. Over the years, the style was labeled psytrance, and all the different sub-genres were 'created'. Goatrance is still one of those sub-genres, often labeled as 'psychedelic', or, here in Belgium, known as 'old school'. It's still pretty popular, over here, at least.

When I started my track and went to google just to make sure that I'm in the right genre I've learned that psytrance does not cover many styles, but that the typical bassline is the rolling bass. That means that the kick is followed by 3 16th notes, what makes the "galopp" beat. One can hardly believe how many youtube videos are commented on, that it is not psytrance. For tracks that I thought was psytrance.
Now that I'm almost done and struggling really hard with this gallop beat, I find out that somehow everyone has a different opinion, what the difference is between Psytrance and Goa..haha.
Too bad that you have not commented earlier ;), which led me to read again, what makes Psytrance exactly. In any case, I would have made a completely different and easier track (for me) - haha.
Well, at least that's how I learned something new :)
PS: I think my track will be up tomorrow :)
In my experience, the rolling bass is used often, but is definitely not a requirement.
When I first read this post and was talking to @nickyhavey about what psytrance really was (it's not easy when you're not a producer to use the exact words) I bumped into this site that actually gives a good rundown of the styles, although it uses a different vocabulary than the one I'm used to.

I finally got a chance to listen in and loved listening to this! Great work for your first attempt at psytrance! Looks like everyone who entered has dipped their toes in to the genre for the first time!
Thanks again! This genre is very interesting to me as I could not figure out how to get this special sound with the heavy compressed bassline... I really have to dive into that genre a bit more.. 🤔
Yes I had to do a lot of research too and ask those who were in the know as I didn't know where to begin! YouTube was a great help and I think I will be doing more Trance tracks in the future for sure! This whole contest has inspired a creative bug in me 🙂

@yamaagni, am I wrong when I assume psytrance is not new to you? I think you have at least listened it it in the past.
This was a real trip down memory lane.
During the last 20 years, i've heard the genre develop from 'goatrance' - which covered the entire load at that time - into psytrance and all its different sub-genres.
Your track reminded me of so many different things I heard over the years. It has some really 'oldschool' sounds, but you managed to put in some more 'modern' melodic psytrance melodies.
