in #bitshares6 years ago

Welcome to the 69th Bitshares State of the Network (BSotN) report. A weekly report focusing on the changes in the ecosystem and track longer term changes in a effort to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares platform.

Bitshares - State of the Network - 16th January 2018

The Bitshares State of the Network Reports seeks to combine raw data from a wide range of metrics and combine them into meaningful information to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares network.

Observation from this week

This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.

  • Alfredo Garcia (Bitshares core developer) has proposed a new worker proposal set to come into affect on the 22nd of Jan 2018. This new worker is to replace his previous worker proposal which has now expired. Alfredo has done great work on the Bitshares platform and the votes speak for themselves with his worker proposal already receiving enough vote to have it become active on the day of commencement

  • The team from Scorum (currently in ICO) have outlined an opensource method of doing ACCT (Atomic Cross Chain Transaction) on Graphene based chains. The paper outlines specifically a method demonstrating ACCT between their Graphene based chain and Litecoin. The team who developed this method have also offered support to implement this function within the Bitshares network. For more information see the ACCT Guide and their post on BitsharesTalk forum HERE

  • A new version of the Bitshares Reference wallet has been released (v2.0.180115). This update has featured more prominent headers on the exchange, updated send modal and language selector as well as some bug fixes. Get more information about the changes HERE and previous update HERE

  • @michaelx on behalf of Cryptonomex has created a worker proposal seeking the funds required to purchase bitshares.com. This domain was acquired by a fore-thinking squatter that recognised the value of the project. As Bitshares has grown so has the price of this domain and at the moment the asking price is said to be 250,000 USD. Apparently their is another party interested in purchasing this domain and from what we know this is not a member of the community or anyone related to the project.. obviously a domain in the wrong hands is not ideal. The worker proposal is for 500,000 BTS. more details HERE

  • 24 hour trade volume of 170 Million USD on the DEX recorded on the 16th of Jan

  • Due to a fee reduction the cost of Life Time Membership's on the Bitshares network have been reduced from 1457 BTS down to 110.8 BTS. Given the current market condition these are the cheapest prices i have seen for LTM's.. I recommend if you have been waiting for a time to buy this membership then you should consider the current sale prices.

  • The Bitspark teams has released another update to the Zephyr project. Update #4 covers some technical and business updates including new team members, signing of NDAs as well as development on the upcoming Sendy 2.0 mobile app and more. Read the full report HERE

  • A quote from George Harrap (Co-Founder of Bitspark): 'There is only 1 DEX that has 1. Been in existence 3.5years. 2. Operated at 3300tx/s. 3. Have zero counterparty stablecoins. 4. $200m vol yesterday. objectively #bitshares is so far ahead of other projects it’s not even close'

  • RuDEX team have launched 0% market fee gateways for Karma and Decent, they ask you to vote for their witness blckchnd

  • Centralized Exchange Coinbene started offering bitCNY Markets. More information HERE

  • @cm-steem has released a server on the testnet for his HUG REST API; This API provides open-source high performance interface to the Bitshares network through simple GET requests. For more information see his full post HERE

  • The Beyond Bitcoin Bitshares weekly hangouts have now moved to the Discord platform. You can join the Bitshares Discord HERE and also catch the latest hangouts streamed live on youtube HERE

  • This week’s Bitshares hangout recording has been published and is available HERE

  • Current registered wallets/accounts within the Bitshares network is 643928; an increase of 39112 wallets/accounts since last week

11,000+ New BTS holders this week and 23,000+ since 2018 - These are account that hold BTS on the network (not on an exchange)

Wow, this is starting to go parabolic isn't it?

And here's the beautiful price path :)

I think boozecoin had something to do with it. Hopefully someone cried when they saw the fees.

This looks like great news! Thanks!

@steempower your post is very informative and attractive as well.

Decentralized exchanger and an amazing community...I see a bright future for this project!

Bitshares so awesome!

looking forward to see bitshares among the top coins in 2018.

Could someone explain to me, how do I make a worker proposal? I'd love if we could get a shape-shift like front end for the BTS DEX, but I couldn't figure out how to propose it.

I might be totally off base; but, have you considered working through utopian.io?

Also, I'd suggest joining the Bitshares Discord group mentioned above.

I hope this helps.

Peace.

btw Blocktrades.us has 'instant conversion' which is a shapeshift style service builtin to the Bitshares reference wallet

If you are using one of the recent Bitshares reference wallet releases; you can go to the voting tab (from the hamburger menu in the top right) and select 'Worker Proposals' then there is a button to 'Create a New Worker'

Thanks, as always, for the thorough reporting on BTS. I had a few questions.

  1. A while back I read that there was an idea floating around to change the name from Bitshares to something else. Is that still a possibility?
  2. Is there any plan to make the wallet exchange portion a bit more user-friendly, which I think is important for new user adoption?
  1. It is something that still might be on the cards but we are also fond of our existing name and preserving an important legacy - Bitshares is not some new blockchain; it is a proven system that has been operating successfully for years.. if we change names we will lose a little bit of that brand recognition.

  2. The Bitshares reference wallet is being constantly with new releases coming out every 2 weeks. This is an active work proposal being project managed by @billbutler - he has a team of dev working on milestones in a agile framework.

2a. If you are using 1 of the many 3rd party provider such as RuDEX, Openledger, Bridge ect ect you may not see these updates as these teams independently maintain their own wallets and would need to merge changes for the updates to be seen by their customers

If you front page does not look similar to below i recommend you check out the latest release of the references clients (you will not be disappointed) - Web/Cloud wallet - Desktop wallet

LifeTime Membership only 110 BTS now!! Me and my peoples are definitely hopping on that deal...

I already have an account am I still able to put you down as the Referrer?

wow. It used to be about $100. Why is it so cheap now?

I just upgraded!

I think it used to be a static number, but with the price rising over the last month, that became too expensive :) Not sure if it's dynamically calculated now, of if they just lowered it. Either way, I'm now a member :D

The committee member review fees periodically or after a large price change and propose updates to keep fee's inline with a USD reference.
BTS holders then have the ability to accept or decline those changes by way of voting.

So it is not dynamically set at the moment, but the community and committee members do keep an eye on price changes and strive to provide cheap services on the network

Excuse my ignorance what benefits does lifetime membership provide ?

No worries! 80% refund on all transaction fees...Personally im done with Centralized Exchanges and seriously plan on only using OpenLedger, so for me spending only $38 worth of BTS to almost never pay a fee again is worth it.

Thanks my friend ! If Bitshares ends up being as big as people think it's going to be,then that will be a $38 very well spent !

Don't forget premium name registration and the ability to use the referral program for a % of the network fees paid by people you introduce to the network.

I think its a good deal; i think i paid over 10,000 BTS for my LTM ;)

Your referrer is only set when you initially create the account; if you have many peoples then you might want to get your LTM sorted first then they could use your referral link and you will get a % of the fee's they pay as a reward for introducing them to the platform

@steempower,
Buying BitShares.Com is a very good idea! How could we help that project? I want to participate for it!

Cheers~

The proposal has already expired :(
I included it as i thought it was a worthy effort and attempt to protect a valuable resource. it may come up
for voting again and in that case you can vote for the proposal in the Bitshares Reference wallet

@steempower,
I will try to find it! Demand for the domain is so huge! But when thinking about the future of BTS, we need to buy it ASAP! Hope community will consider! Why we can't initiate a donation process in STEEMIT? I think it might work too!
Thanks for your kind response!

Cheers~

Personally, I would choose to not pay the assdick any money for it. It hurts to not have that domain, but if we answer to this kind of 'extortion' we'll give the signal that this kind of douchy behavior is actually acceptable and even profitable.

Current registered wallets/accounts within the Bitshares network is 643928; an increase of 39112 wallets/accounts since last week
amazing, want to be a part now

25% of those account are actually holding BTS as well.. some people come and create an account and kick the tyres, some people create extra accounts ect.
The chart below actually shows the increase in accounts holding BTS per week (i only have a few months of data on this sadly)

Hi @steempower ! This report about Bitshares is huge! Thanks for sharing.

Question here, do you know were to get more valueable information about the AriseBank? Its very interesting everything we will be able to do with it!

The AriseBank is the first of the alliance that @stan was talking about 2 weeks ago? It will make BTS to skeyrocket for sure, and the possibility to buy BTS with fiat will push price to higher highs, do you believe so?

By the way, It was great to have your support on one of the first chapters of the 11 chapter full steemit guide to help new users of steemit, new visitors and minnows to learn as much as possible about steemit and the steem blockchain.

Here is the last Chapter 7 I posted, it would be great to hear from you when you get the chance.
