Brazilian Carnival 2019 - Giant Bitcoin float parading in Rio's Sambadrome and a lot of people with Bitchcoin costumes in the streets

in #bitcoin6 years ago (edited)

Here in Brazil almost everyone believes that the year only begins after the carnival ends. This time we saw the famous Mangueira Samba School wins the Rio's official carnival parade dancing and waving flags stamped with the human rights activist Marielle Franco's portrait in pink and green, the colors of the school. As The Washington Post mentioned it - Rio Carnival winner paid tribute to slain councilwoman - Marielle was shot dead last year and her accused murderers (two former policemen) were arrested yesterday. Mangueira's position was against the far-right President Jair Bolsonaro, who is a Twitter active user like the President of US and shocked his followers and the press with a hardcore sex tape: Brazil's Bolsonaro ridiculed after tweeting explicit carnival video (The Guardian).

On the opposite side, the Imperatriz Leopoldinense Samba School parade singing and dancing about the history of money, with floats and costumes inspired by themes from King Midas to Satoshi Nakamoto's invention. Even the Bitcoin.com published the article - Rio Carnival to Feature Bitcoin This Year - mentioning the financial crisis in Brazil and quoting an Imperatriz's dancer who said: "we’ll end the parade talking about a future already present through cryptocurrencies".

I think that idea of mixing samba with Bitcoin and money did not touch the Rio's Carnival jury. Unlike Mangueira, Imperatriz Leopoldinense took the last position and will go down participating in a lower level Carnival parade division next year. But going up and down is the music rhythm of the crypto market, this year's fall could be seen as a sign of winter or sunny days to come in next festivities :-)

To me, worst than this downgrade, was that the Bloco Chain did not perform this year. In 2018 I promoted a hashtag and posted about it: #BlocoChain | The Bloco Chain in Brazilian Carnival. A decentralized autonomous kind of mini samba school for blockchain and cryptocurrency enthusiasts. But fortunatly, as I registered here last year - - many people continued to play with Bitcoin inspired costumes in the streets of Brazil.

Bull Bitchcoins x Bear Bitchcoins

I made a search about the #Bitchcoin tag on Instagram and found many Carnival enthusiasts wearing costumes and special makeups. The doc and traveler Mariana's group of friends, Carolina from Niterói (Rio de Janeiro state) and Flávia from São Paulo city look like having fun as hodlers, they appeared holding boards with phrases like "um dia tô por baixo, no outro tô por cima" (one day I'm down and other day I'm over) and "investe em mim que eu rendo" (do invest on me that we make a profit). The atmosphere were similar with I post last year: Bitch Coin costumes in Rio de Janeiro's Carnival, Katy Perry's crypto nails and #BlocoChain in Steem blockchain. Come to Brazil!.

The novelty was that part of the bitchcoins could be considered more bearish and less confident in the cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Maybe they are sure that digital assets will not have any value at all. Gabrielle and Franciele went to Carnival party with a lot of glitter, Bitcoin logos gracing the hair and cardboards on the hands with the disclaimer: "não investe que não estou valendo nada" (do not invest on me, I'm not worthing anything). Marcos Vicari also published a picture with his friends in São Paulo with the subtitle "tiram onda de ricas mas não valem nada" (they pose as rich but worth nothing).

I believe that both recommendations - for or against Bitcoin - we read in that messages could be ironic or with double meanings, one among so many other jokes for play the Carnival. Beyond short or long commitment, other people prefered wear the bitchoin costumes without any buy or sell order advice. As you can find, there are pictures of people in many brazilians cities like Olinda, Salvador and Recife, not only Rio and São Paulo. In 2018 I published What I learned from the Bitch Coin, Shot Work Permit and Unicorn costumes' success in Brazilian carnival this year, now I felt still in the afterparty hangover but I'm sure I'll find inspiring answers for these 2019 amazing lessons too :-)

May the nour be with you! Thanks and good luck again!
