Here in São Paulo we can find a lot churrascarias (Brazil's south steakhouses style) and restaurants with japanese, italian, chinese and arabian cuisine. But there are few offering the culinary from northeast of the country, even with millions of immigrants from this region living in the city.

I found the Casa do Norte (North's House) restaurant located in Barra Funda neighbourhood. It seems their specialties are Baião de Dois (fresh black-eyed peas, rice and pork cooked together) and Mocofava (calf's foot jelly, broad beans and jerked beef).

But as I was alone I preferred to have the Frango com Quiabo (chicken with okra), one of my favorites. It came with the traditional brazilian staple food, rice and beans as usual, plus salad.

When eating northeast food, one thing is a must: farinha de mandioca (cassava flour). In the picture you can see it over the beans in the plate and inside the plastic recipient. Some foreigners are annoyed with the idea of a food so similar to sand but I think it's delicious :-)

At the end, a cup of coffee, not an espresso this time. Maybe I came back to try the mocofava and write a review about it.
