Wire Art - Fish Ornaments

in #art6 years ago (edited)

Water is my element. Besides all, I was born in Cancer Horoscope, so it makes sense. :)
I am naturally inclined to arts and obviously inspired by water. The result is that Marine life totally fascinates me. Although I am not brave enough to snorkel and observe life in person, my imagination goes wild ALL THE TIME.

I created many figurines like mermaids, fish, octopus, jelly fish, turtles... you name it. People hang them by the curtain rods, ceiling fans, lamps or even in Christmas Trees.

In this post I would like to show off some of my fish ornaments.

This is my interpretation of Nemo, approx. 12" long. I used wire and seed beads (hundreds, if not thousands).

This cutie is Spikey. There are many lion fish specimens in Caribbean waters, that's my inspiration.

And these little golden creatures are having a party :)

Hope you liked my creations. We call them Mobile Ornaments here, in US. They look awesome by the windows!

You are beautiful woman @starjewel 🌷😃

Thank you. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We are all as beautiful as we want to be. 😊

🌷🙋👍

Oh wow how cool. I love creative ventures too, I have an entire box full of beads and wires to makes things. I've never tried something so detailed as your fish above but my sister and I got pretty got at butterflies, scorpions and other assorted bugs. Come to think of it in not sure where the insect theme come from lol. Spikey was my fav but I loved party fish no.2, the one with the hat. Thanks for taking the time to share. I think I may have to get some creativity on today now. You have inspired me. Thanks @danielsaori for sharing @stairwell with us.

I am very happy that I got to inspire you @insideoutlet
I am sure you can make fish ornaments. They are all fully 3D. If you can make butterflies and scorpions, you can make anything. I like to make spiders too, I will post some pictures soon. Following you, nice meeting you!

Wow i love your beautiful creation of Nemo the clown fish, it must have taken such a lot of patience and so many hours to create.
The yellow and blue lionfish is so cool too, im imagining a whole aquarium of different fish floating around in the window
You should consider a #steembay auction for your gorgeous work.
Keep up with the wonderful posts full of inspiring, multicoloured creativity too @starjewel 😊

@happysmileyman Thank you so much! Yes, Nemo took a long time, but I never measure time when I create. I put so much passion in everything. The adrenaline flowing through my veins when I see things coming alive from my imagination... oh man, that feeling is amazing :)

I make simular work with tiny 2mm beads @starjewel i made a loom and design bracelets this one took me around 8hrs to create. I know what you mean when you look at it finished i its magnificence after its come from nothing but your imagination! 😊

Blessings to you 😊

Awesome. I really love this. I tried to make bracelets on loop, but I found it very difficult. You must follow patters and I like free form and improvisations. Also, the closing part of bracelets is tricky. You are a true artist my friend.

I really do not know where the patience i have for doing these comes from @starjewel and my hands are big too! Since reading your post the other day it totally inspired me to finish off a bracelet i started a long time ago on the loom i made, the closing part was exceptionally tricky! and i nearly finished another one i started today so thanks for the inspiration and thank you for the compliment. Your a true artist too 😉😊 btw im going to blog about my bracelets as youve inspired me from this post, wishing you bundles and bundles of inspiration and smiles 😊

Great, looking forward to see the bracelets! 😊

I found a cool close-up pic in my old phone :)

First @starjewel welcome to steemit! I haven't met you yet but I'm happy @danielsaori's game introduced you to us! You seem like a wonderfully nice person and I love how you express yourself through your art! (I can see you enjoy it by the "fun party" your golden fish are having! hahaha)

I particularly was drawn to Spiky though, she is a cute little thing and reminds me a of girlfriend I once had. Pretty blue eyes, soft pouty lips, and of course the bad hair days that happened more times than not! lol :D

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and congratulations on being selected to be the post featured in this awesome game #steemitcommentchallenge!

@davemccoy Thank you and nice meeting you, I am following you now :) looking forward to read your posts. Yes, I do have fun with my wire art. I am happy Spiky put a smile on your face... besides all, the purpose of art is to bring out our emotions.

Yes, Spikey is quite some fish. :) Nice creation!
How much of it is improvisation or do you have a set plan from the beginning?

I have a plan initially... but in my head, not on paper. I usually start with a frame and build layers on top of layers. Improvisation mostly. Spikey started as an egg 🥚. Four criss-crossed wires in an oval shape, like an egg or a human fist. All fish ornaments are 3D. Spike’s fins are like porcupine fins, all around. I coudn’t capture that in the picture, I guess I need more than one picture to show the three dimensional aspect.

Blue eyes are quite lovely too. ;)

I love your mobile ornaments @starjewel! Awesome work and thank you so much for showing them to us!

@newbieresteemday Thank you, I will definitely check out the community and tag to connect. I am new at all these but I will learn fast, I promise.

Water is a magical element that transmits life, I feel identified with water maybe because I am a scorpion, I love the sea and the life in it is interesting, it would be a good idea to learn to dive, so you will have more ideas for your beautiful crecaiones, I congratulate you.

@melvadg Your words are music to my years. Water is a magical element that transmits life, this is so true. That is why water is such a huge source of inspiration for me. I must live close to the water, otherwise I can not survive. Regarding diving, lol. I am not brave. Can’t even snorkel. 🤪

Hi there Starjewel! Love your arts. I myself like Spikey, the lion fish. The similarity is awesome! :D

I've read you made lots of these, are you selling these? I believe these are good enough to be sold. So, you could earn money from your hobby. I think turtles would attract many Asians, as it symbolizes longevity. Good luck to you! Steem On!

@liberviarum Thank you. Yes, I made quite a few and sold them online, I run an Etsy store. Some of them go to art galleries, some go to friends. I love turtles too, I was thinking to make a big one. I love to make 3D pieces that stand alone on flat surfaces. Not easy! I saw a bunch of turtles in Maui last year, they are still stored in my brain, must get out soon 😊

I envy your skill and patience! Your works are totally beautiful!

@sandropires Thank you! I do have patience. Working with wire relaxes me. Wire is so forgiving. Everything free form. You really don’t need amazing execution skills, just imagination 😊

I feel identified by what you interpret through your art in the water element, I am Cancerian and in fact dreamer, timid and your patience reveals the harmony that your hands made, being so similar to the original since I had the opportunity to visit the zoo from guadalajara Mexico and its orange color inside a large fish tank makes you travel to the movie NEMO, thank you very much.

Thank you @elastilodeunafea I am really happy that you feel like that. When art reaches someone heart, the artist feels completed. I am timid too, maybe that’s why I express myself so well through my art. I put all my emotions there... in the wire.

Wow! Wow!! Wow!! ... Am really amazed at these beautiful piece of art. I love the golden fishes, I love the combination of colors that typically represents these fishes in their natural habitat. You are indeed endowed with creativity and thank God you have been brought to lime light through the on going contest organized by @danielsaori... Keep steeming dear, the sky is gonna be your play ground. Am following you ASAP! and resteeming too!!.. Infact you have my 100%upvote.. BRAVO!

You are very sweet, thank you @desmoniac I am following you back and upvote as soon as I get my powers back. I really want to vote all of you guys, but I need to wait a little 😊.
