Street Art Makes Me Smile
The other day, I was meeting up with friends in a coffee shop in a close by town. Just so you know, I am in San Diego and many of the smaller cities which used to be way east, north or south of San Diego have all grown into one big area covered with houses.
You are driving along a road, one house next to another. And suddenly, the street goes from smooth and beautiful to full of potholes - or vice versa. That, and a city limit sign, is the only indication that you left one city and entered another.
So, I drove 5 minutes to get to the next town with the annoying reality of parking meters in all downtown parking spots.
Needless to say, I don't park downtown. A couple of blocks walking is the only requirement for free parking.
I had a nice walk toward the cafe and saw this for the first time.
Usually, I don't come from the back and was so happy that I got to see this mural.
It covers the back of the building.
I am not sure how I feel about the seahorse there since we are about 20 mi from the ocean and I think it would be cool to keep going along the blank wall and make the trashcans disappear into the painting - but that is pricey.
An otherwise extremely boring building was made special through art. I love that so much!!!
Do you have murals in your town? Do you love them? Hate them? Or not care?

great painting!
Thank you. And thanks for the resteem.
I love good mural art in cities. They really do freshen up a location that otherwise would be lifeless. Show more. :-))
Okay, I will!!!
Street art like that is really cool. There are a few murals in my district and I'm sure there's plenty more around my city.
cool!! if you post pictures of some, make sure to tag me. I suck at drawing/painting and always admire what people come up with!!
This is in the Village in La Mesa, right?
Yes!!!! Are you coming to the meetup on Sunday?
Yeah we have some electrical boxes in town that the city paints over with murals. Forest theme. That looks pretty good. Used to live in OB. Think they got a mural over there as well. Been a while.
Yes!! Those utility boxes look so much better covered in art!! And OB for sure has some murals...
Cool mural. I love how it goes all the way to the edges so it looks like it stands alone.
I love street art, especially when it's painted over random eyesores, like metal electrical boxes.
I'm in Santa Cruz, we have tons of cool murals out here.
I look forward to meeting you at the creators conference. It will be so fun. I want to hear about your writers project on Steemit. so cool.
Talk to you soon Marianne
Santa Cruz has always been such a cool city!! I am looking forward to meeting you too! One more week :)
haha good morning I have a contest of murals in case you dare to participate
happy Saturday
That is particularly good street art — a LOT better than some of the eyesores painted on the sides of fences and buildings!
Bright Blessings!
