Before she's gunned down and her voice fell silent in her own land, journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh delivered a speech which foreshadowed the current wave of attacks and attempts to brand the justice-seeking activists as terrorist sympathisers or "urban Naxal".
In the speech, Lankesh explained who would be branded as a Naxalite by the police, govt. and the media. She cautioned the minority, especially those considered of low birth or Dalits.
She said, had she stood against govt's punitive violence, she too would be taken as a Naxalite (armed resistance group).
