☠️ Riding to the Conditions ☠️

 
So what on earth do I mean about riding to the conditions?
Well it means that you must be mindful of the riding situation your in and the conditions around you, so things like wet weather, unknown or unfamiliar roads, road surface etc. These are the conditions which affect your ability to ride in a safe and predictable manner.

Wet weather it a big one for me, whenever it's raining or the roads are wet I always slow down. No evel knievel shit for me.
Wet roads can be incredibly dangerous for us motorbike riders. So many factors are often reduced, like for instance stopping distance of cars behind us. Wet and slick roads can mean stopping distance is increased so you should always leave a little extra room between you and the car in front, and try to avoid braking heavily as cars behind you might not be able to stop in time.
This is where riding to the conditions comes in to play, it your going to tear up the roads like your Valentino Rossi then you naturally increase your chances of having a serious accident. There are plenty of opportunities to tear up the road but wet weather is not the best time, I would rather wait until the roads are dry.

Also roads may have oil on them which can make them incredibly slippery when they get wet. So extra caution needs to be taken, I remember once when it was raining and I was coming into the traffic lights to turn right and when I dropped it down into second gear the bike kicked out sideways and I was almost 90 degrees. This is a prime example of not riding to the conditions.
I'm not more cautious in situations like this.

Also some roads here in SA are hopeless, and once it starts raining it's really difficult to see the lines between lanes. Sometimes they even disappear with glare from sun, so your just hoping for the best really.
This is also something which we need to be careful with, as you might be able to see the lanes but other drivers might not. Then nek minit you have a car coming into your lane and your either off the road or you get hit.

When riding in the rain, we must also be mindful of how much power we have at our disposal.
So if your going to try and pop a wheelie because there is some smoking hot girl and you wanna show off, then this could end very badly. If there is a patch of oil on the road which you can't see, then your most likely going to be eating gravel off the road.
Even if your not intending on popping that wheelie, you must still be mindful that if you want to rip on the accelerator you might very well lose control and end up kissing the pavement.

So always be mindful of the conditions your riding in, and ride safe.
