Greetings Steemians!

Welcome once again to a new episode of my Crete travel report!

Today, I welcome you to the village of Agía Galíni. Considered as one of the most beautiful villages in southern Crete, Agía Galini indeed offers a lot to the eye. Like Mátala, Agía Galíni was a secret tip for escapists and young adventure tourists in the 70's yet the former fisher village meanwhile became a hot spot for mainstream tourism. Thus countless souvenir shops, taverns and restaurants await the onrush of tourists during high-season.

Still, Agía Galíni has preserved a lot of it's special charm. Narrow alleys, picturesque corners and a peculiar, convoluted arrangement of the old houses on the hillside invite you to spend hours exploring the village.

Let's start our walk at the harbour:

Agía Galíni is located at the end of a steep valley and was built on the ruins of the former Minoan settlement Soúlia. Ever since the natural bay has been an important anchorage. The actual village developed from custom authorities which were installed at the bay at the end of the 19th century.

A seemingly unsystematic arrangement of the houses add to the village's peculiar atmosphere. It's not easy to always stay oriented while strolling through the alleys. If one gets lost though, one can always keep going downwards and eventually arrive back at the harbour.

Around each corner waits a new alley that wants to be explored.

Another seemingly unsystematic arrangement. I'm sure though that there is a hidden order visible only to the expert's eyes.

I hope you enjoyed the first part of my stroll through Agía Galíni. If so, don't forget to check back in for it's continuation.

Thanks for watching and 'til next time!

Shaka

Also was mir auf diesen Fotos sofort auffällt, sind die vielen indigoblauen Elemente. Z.B. die Geländer. Diesen Farbton trifft man in unseren Breiten eigentlich kaum an. Aber es passt einfach perfekt auf Deine sonnig mediterranen Fotos mit dem "Dorfbau zu Babel". ;-) Sehr interessante Bauentwicklung...
Auch ohne Kätzchen top! :-)

That is a truly beautiful place. I love the white and blue tones.

Another seemingly unsystematic arrangement. I'm sure though that there is a hidden order visible only to the expert's eyes.

Nope. Total dis-order. LOL

Well, that is a possibility, too :D

Yes, in first glance only this place or village throws an unique and natural essence and i really agree with you it's truly reflecting as an art pieces and for sure those houses on mountains are reflecting as to more explorative.

Specially i really liked all these ships out there and this is great view for sure and in my opinion travelling in these ships while exploring all the beauty of this place can be an great experience and opportunity for sure.

Yes, every corner is leading us towards the surprising essence and in my opinion living at these kind of places can be really great experience because whenever any festival is held or any other particular function is held it can give an essence like everyone is celebrating it.

And literally those electrical wires are just crazy and we can see same situations at many places and in my opinion authorities should take care because it should not hurt anybody and in my opinion these wires are too much exposing.

Thanks for sharing this post with us and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂

Another seemingly unsystematic arrangement. I'm sure though that there is a hidden order visible only to the expert's eyes.

I also think that there is a certain disorder in this part of the route! :)

I love how it is made Agía Galíni with its huge passageways everywhere, I am sure that more than one has been lost among so many. I love white houses and the first thing that comes to mind is the good weather in the area.

For certain people this type of structures can be somewhat uncomfortable but I am sure that the inhabitants should be very happy there. Everything looks very calm. The photos were very sharp and beautiful, capturing what each corner is.

Everything in this town seems to combine, everything is white and blue, the houses, the streets, the boats, the sky and the sea ... Much reason to consider it one of the most beautiful villages of Crete.
The only thing is that I definitely would not work there as a manager of the energy system. So complex that it scares, only an expert takes over.

Hi shaka, what a good virtual adventure ride in your different trips, I feel like I'm going in 1st class with a tourist guide who, besides showing interesting places, tells us the different stories that lead us to know part of Greece, giving us a very extended explanation. Agia Galíni is a very striking town because of its structure, full of up and down alleys that make the tourist have the curiosity where any street will take him. It also has a charm that place located on the seashore. I am struck by the interweaving of the posts. Well, I will continue with avid emotion this new adventure, called Agia Galíni spectacular village, greetings. @shaka
