I'd love you still
Even if you voted
Republican or democrat
Or just wished to see it all washed away.

You'd still be loved
Regardless of choices
Despite whichever way you lean
Or if you agree with me or with them.

There's only love
Through all the many deaths
Lust for money or for power
Or lust to see the world balanced upright.

We're simply love
Even when we close off
Even when the world is too much
And we are too little to make a change.

I have seen love
Teetering on the branch
Caught between seasons and falling
And traded like silk on open markets.

But there is love
Hiding in the shadows
Painting messages on the wall
Moving us as surely as possession.

Is love a ghost
A raging entity?
A master who brooks no nonsense?
Or a refugee from a war-torn place?
