THE DAILY SNAKE # 15 - WESTERN BLACK RAT SNAKE VIDEO

in #nature6 years ago

I found this one just in time!

The Western Black Rat Snake (Pantherophis obsoletus) is the official longest snake in North America. Known for its incredible climbing skills and its taste for eggs, it is a common snake that many frequently encounter.

While this snake is nonvenomous, it is known for being defensive, and will bite if it feels threatened. We found this one in the quail pen, but got to it before it could harm any quail or eat any eggs.

Wow, you'll never stop to amaze me with your snake skills. Keep it up @papa-pepper, no lies I'm also learning one or two things about snakes from you too !!.
So if it feels threatened then it'll attack and what about in a case whereby you don't actually mean any harm ?

I am really quite astonished by how many different kind of snakes you have. Where I live here in South Central Wisconsin I've lived in this house for 20 years and I have never seen a snake. I'm near the river there's a creek that runs through my property and I'm in a oak woods. Wouldn't you think in all that time I would have seen one while I was out working in the flower beds or just going out to fill the bird feeder!
