Introducing My Fractal Art and Myself

You may not be familiar with Fractal Art, but I hope to change that very soon, if you are, all the better!

I am Craig Bak, aka: Fractalizer. I have been creating fractal art for over 10yrs.

Fractals are created by using mathematical calculations, the results of the calculations are then displayed on a computer screen as a graphical representation - an image.

Some call it Sacred Geometry and others just see the beautiful images that come from a mathematical calculation!

At a very basic level, the calculations are run millions of times repeatedly by running a calculation and then the result or sum is fed back into the beginning of the next calculation like a looping of the the calculation which keeps taking the result of the calculation and feeding it back into itself over and over.

This creates a Self-Similar image, meaning you will see similar parts of the image as you zoom into the fractal no matter how deep you go, they are never ending, infinite in nature.
The image is coloured by a palette which is used to assign a colour to a pixel by the result of where it is placed on screen, in other words, the further away from Zero (0), the colours are associated by the distance they are away from black which is zero.

All of this may sound complicated and it is for a person trying to write code to make a program that does the calculations and places the pixels on screen to make up an image.

Think about a graph and the different shapes that are usually seen when someone makes a graph of something like a survey or profit and loss graph.

Luckily, there are some very clever people who can write code to create these Fractal Editors.
Then artists like me can go into the editor and choose how we want the calculations to be manipulated in order to get a very specific original and unique piece of art, never seen before by anyone!

I find it fascinating that a mathematical calculation can result in a piece of art like the one above.

You may still be confused by how the pictures are made, but that is my fault by not explaining it satisfactorily, but that does not mean that the computer creates the picture, the computer only does the hard work of doing the calculations millions of times and placing the pixels on the screen. The artist is in charge and decides how the image will look depending on the tweeks and choices the they make during the creating process.
This mathematics was known back in the 1700's and discovered by a mathematician named Gaston Julia, but at the time Julia could never see the real results of these calculations, as it would take thousands of hours of calculating and plotting on a piece of paper to see the results.

It was not until @ 1982 that Benoit Mandelbrot, a Harvard Professor working with IBM tried to make sense of Julia's geometry calculations.
Mandelbrot discovered the images that Julia was seeking to understand and fractal geometry was born.

No matter if the mathematics or the pictures themselves interest you, there is something magical about fractals when applied to the Art scene and I have become addicted to creating new and more unusual images to share with the world.

I hope that you enjoy my art at least half as much as I do, if you do then we both win!

Glad to be here and I hope you will share your views and comments on my art!

very cool images! You should also check out @kalemandra's cool fractal images.

Are you also using Mandelbulber? Very cool program. Haven't had a chance yet, but definitely want to play around with it when I have a bit of extra time on my hands!

Anyway, welcome to STEEMIT, Craig!

Thanks very much alexpmorris, I know about kalemandra's fractals, Woody and I had a fractal group on Tsū and she was in it for a while.
Yes, I use Mandelbulber3D also, but Woody is much better!
