Listening to the word opportunity don’t you have a feeling of hope,of a new beginning?
For me,the opportunity,whatever it is,marks the door for the better and the most beautiful.
The new one that has not yet been tested and conceals something strange to discovery.
Good or bad no one knows but it's definitely a new adventure.
-So,should I ask you a question?Why is there the word second next to opportunity?
-Why do I see people next to me who deserve much more than they chase, generously giving second opportunities to some who threw the first ones away?
So I think the opportunity should be just one.You gave it, it did not work out,you move on. Simple as that,just as life is simple.
We are complicating our lives so much that in the end it turns into an unscathed shack that we too do not manage to solve.
If the opportunity was always only one and there was not a second one,it would all be more clearly and perhaps better for both the one who gives it and the other who accepts it.
The latter, as you perceive, knowing its uniqueness would appreciate it more and probably use it much better.
Besides, in this life, everything that we consider unique and afraid not to lose it,we always keep it better
So he would either take advantage of what was given to him or would return it without giving hope to the other for its possible exploitation in the future.
It was only one chance you -gave it- it didn’t -work out-,move on
No setbacks
Whoever turns, asks what he has thrown away, and whoever gives it they are both worthy of their fate.The fate that wants him captive to something without a future and hope.
At this point i will refer to the one who knows how to give a good opportunity.
To the one who knows that the second opportunities are a waste of time and a repetition of mistakes.
Of course, many times as it turns out, the second and masochistic chance is the strong proof that anything lost, is lost because it was not worth,it did not fit.
So he knows well that when we talk about opportunities, we automatically refer to new chapters and new adventures.

@mindtrap - I must firstly, compliment you on the interesting topic, it had my neurons firing non-stop, ha ha ha!
I am tempted to agree with you, but something inside seems to disagree on the point that seems very harsh...it discards the notions of forgiveness, commitment, repentance and sometimes a lack of readiness for first chances.
I seem to think that life is it's own accounting system, whether we get or receive; 1, 2 or even 3 chances, everything comes out in the "wash".
I am also of the opinion, that we are not only confronted with 1 opportunity at a time. Each moment we make a decision 'yes' or 'no' or 'maybe' is three possible opportunities accepted or rejected. By rejecting an opportunity is the moment we learn it's value OR by accepting we learn learn or downfall, therefore the second opportunity is our only opportunity to make amends.
i knew from the first minute that this is a controversial subject.That is just my personal point of view.
It doesn't mean it is right or wrong.
But there are certain eras even in your life which,if i explain i'm sure you will eventually agree with me.
e.x Would you give second chances if someone cheated on you?-i wouldn't
Would you give second chances if someone was caught stealing in your own business? - i wouldn't
And so on...It is how you want to look at things.Might sound a bit harsh but life is too...

Yes, I tend to agree that with every rule, there are exceptions.
I think the article would have been more spot on if it directly tackled the issues you've raised in the example to me, i.e. no second chances to people which have personally harmed or intended to harm or cause you loss. Yes, then there is a distinct risk of being taken advantage of by virtue of their character.
I do however suspect, that there would still be individuals who would be open to giving second chances. Exploring the topic from this perspective would've probably brought you closer to what you intended and more interesting in general!

Nooo. I need second chances because the first time is always not the best.
That's how we learn to be better. If we don't get a second or third chance then we are doomed to fail at whatever that is and never be able to improve on it.
But you ll get your lesson...and eventually you wont need 2nd chances in the fututre.
That goes for every aspect of your life
After i get the second and third chances yeah.
