Spain has not lost a match over their last 18 games since June 2016. They throttled Argentina 6-1 on March 27, 2018 behind a hat trick from Isco. Portugal lost 3-0 to Netherlands in their last friendly, but Christiano Ronaldo is in top form and looking to make a bold statement in this World Cup. Morocco and Iran were both undefeated in the final group stage of qualification and they both bring winning streaks into the home stretch. Morocco won their last 5 games in a row and Iran won 5 of their last 7. Morocco is playing in their first World Cup since 1998 and although Iran has qualified frequently they have never made it to the 2nd round. Teams advancing from Group B will face teams from Group A in the 2nd round (Uruguay, Egypt, Russia, Saudi Arabia)

What are your predictions?

Spain and Portugal will likely split the rewards of qualifying for the 2nd round but which team will finish 1st to potentially avoid a showdown with Uruguay is a tossup. However, there is plenty of opportunity for these flamboyant European sides to stumble against the solid & rugged teams of Morocco or Iran.
