Today's word is among my top 5 favorite words. And i am pretty sure you can guess why. I'll give you a hint...it's not the pronunciation.

What does it mean ?

We all know what it means...but let's get a definition anyway. So according to the dictionaries:

-it means the back and side of the hog, salter and dried or smoked (oh yeaaaah) usually sliced thin and fried (double oh yeaaaah!!).

-it means, when used in the expression "bring home the bacon", to provide for material needs , earn a living, or accomplish a task, be successful

-it can also mean, when used used in "save one's bacon", to spare one from injury or loss

Origin

Really ? Origin ?? It comes from the oh so delicious pig!!!! But seriously..the word bacon comes from Middle English bacon (meat from the back and sides of a pig) ,from Anglo-Norman bacon, bacun (ham, flitch, strip of lard)..ok this one comes from many languages but let's just stick with these two.

All you need to know is that it comes from the lovely pig, and it means heaven for your taste buds!!! Unless you are vegetarian...lucky for those people who chose that life style, there is vegetarian bacon, called fakon (for real that's how it's called, cuz it's fake) or vacon.
