One word each day: Day 5
Today's word became one of my favorite because of his antonym utopia.
dystopia

What does it mean?
Well according to the dictionaries...
-it means a futuristic imagined universe, or place , or state, where everything is unpleasant, corrupted, the people are unhappy leading dehumanized and often fearful lives
-used in medicine, it means an abnormal position of an organ, or a body part, also called "malposition".
A little info about the characteristics of a dystopian universe
The illusion of a perfect society is maintained trough moral, corporate, bureaucratic, or totalitarian control. Dystopias, in a worst-case scenario, make a criticism about current trends or political system.
Propaganda is used to control the people, information and freedom are censored, a figurehead or a concept is worshiped, the citizens are always under surveillance, they fear the outside word and conform to uniform expectations. This kind of society is portrait as an illusion of a perfect utopian world.
Origin
The word dystopia , was first used in 1868, by J.S. Mill, coined as the antonym of "utopia", from which it derives. J.S. Mill used the word dystopian in one of his Parliamentary Speeches.

In these times of great uncertainty this word has great signifcad for those who live in countries where the level seems surreal decay. However, not only Venezuela or the Middle East. Everyone, more or less live in a "dystopian" planet. We are all caught in this dystopia trying to build a utopia. Just make quijotes need to see reality as it should be. they see the maid at the prostitute and the castle in the mill. We need more dreamers and doers ...
I think I prefer Utopia!
