Woah, totally wasn't expecting this from you.

I guess what you were suggesting is similar to how Minds.com with it's boosting system. You can purchase organic reach for your channel by buying a boost, value = reach. Internal promotion - which are like ads, but not corporate or from third party brands/products. I think that's ok. I'm down for organic reach that you can purchase with Steem. But I'm against the idea to any other ads, or invideo ads, a minimalistic experience in a platform is what I crave, and adblockers are a godsend. Maybe facilitating transactions when sponsoring other products/areas.. that would be awesome.. so the middle man between those who need the ad and those who sponsor it is removed. Direct ads from a client can happen with bids - and popular channels can then share that ad, but as sponsorship in videos - similar to what Youtube already allows. But.. no header ads, not in site ads, but more... a system like gramblr, bidding ads and opt in publication/sponsorship and purchaseable boosts.

You’re right though, that is exactly what I was trying to explain I just lacked the correct words to be able to articulate it better than saying adds, minimal intrusion of viewing experience is a must!

Great Video @d00k13. I do want to hear more about the in-house style ads. If you get anymore information please lets us all know. I agree manual curation will not be possible when the platform grows to a massive size. Also manual curation is subjective. What one person thinks is sub-par another may think is great and so on.

I will definitely keep everyone informed as I find out these things, currently it’s all just speculative there is been no direct information from the developers about this subject. Though there have been hints dropped that it is definitely on the ideas chopping block.

I personally think it be silly for them to not take the opportunity as I’m sure they would have some percentage of that revenue go back into the developers side of the platform.

Hey d00k13, this one hit me close to home. I think the most significant part of the post is not so much about ads. You know I could talk for days about that topic, but really, that core question of "why?" seems to be the important thing. Why am I here, what benefit do I get from creating and sharing. Honestly, it's a lot. For me, there is a ton of benefit that has nothing to do with money. The therapeutic aspect of sharing and refining a thought, of questioning and honing our stories, of practicing publicly and fearlessly to improve our skills. These things matter. There is a community of people that care about and encourage each other, and that is priceless.

The money thing is interesting, and I can understand that everyone comes at it from a different place. Still, building a future that looks like one we would want to live in seems like a really good goal. I hope to be able to help a lot of people prosper on this platform. If the only reason I was here was to find the best way to maximize my take, I'm sure that the journey would be somehow very hollow and bland, in comparison to the richness and joy that has come so far.

I have been wondering about this topic and wanting to talk about it. Don’t get me wrong I love the current model but I’m uncertain it is sustainable if we have an influx of talented creators and then long run for comparison some YouTube channels can live off their career of videos with just views. Steemit 7 day payout is a huge roadblock for the current system.

I like trying to think of solutions and linking them to a larger message, this one happens to include financial side of this equation with an underlying why are you really here? I will always say the same thing, on a freaking journey and this is the only passion I have had in years. Many people find it hard to distinguish the financial gains to the therapeutic or social gains with interactions like these that far value what is found on say Facebook comments.... one line spam bs, now that said the reward of someone of importance looking in on your work and appreciating it, that feeds the human yearning for acceptance in someway. My first big vote made my day, and it came with a message though very controversial it was needed. Proper curation and inspired me!

Look at us now! Though it was an interest in trying to get that crypto started by mining and learning from the ground up how it works, lead me to wondering why I could run a steemit witness and signing up to see how it works and almost immediately stumbling upon a newbies guide I was down the path of writing a novel for my introduce myself post. Wow that was what I needed to discover writing, which I need to also say I would not have normally Signed up for a blog I don’t write. I was encouraged to do so as a way to honour my late buddy whom always said I should write. He was a writer, but he never published his work if he had maybe depression would not have taken him I know that now, it is my therapeutic release.

I do agree, I think this is a good idea a specially that does ads would be only promoting some other channels instead "Snickers" etc..But, there is a bigger issue coming. No Net neutrality in US is currently killing Dtube. It means, some services from At&T, Comcast, and probably Verizon in US already are blocking uploads and nodes. I hope they will not go any further with it. Who knows, might later on block access to this site.

I believe we will all just have to use a VPN then, I already have one it came with my antivirus software free of charge

I am positive of it as well, I believe ads will be necessity for long-term stability.
