Travel Digest #312

Introduction

Hi everyone! @livinguktaiwan here, hope you're having a great weekend. Now we've stepped in September, it seems that summer is over, at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere. If you went away in the summer, don't forget to share your travels with us and post it to the Steemitworldmap.

#1 Canadian Rockies: Aboard the Ice Explorer at the Columbia Icefields and surrounding glaciers +900 ft Skywalk

In our first featured post we're visiting the Canadian Rockies with @ladybug146. She's going on the Ice Explorer to see the glacier at the Columbia Icefields. This is a very popular excursion and she had to book a week in advance as each explorer only carries 56 passengers. During the excursion, she gets to walk on the glacier, treading carefully as some parts are a bit thinner than others. The water is so pure and crisp here that you can actually drink it straight. You can't get any fresher than that. Finally, to round off the excursion, she visits the skywalk which is just 10 minutes away. This is built over the Sunwapata Valley's 900 foot drop, not one for the faint hearted!!

#2 Travel Blog 48: Exploring & Eat Until You Drop at Traditional Gwangjang Market, Seoul

If you love your food and markets, check out the post by @explorenations where she visits the Gwanjang Market in Seoul, Korea. Through the network of small alleyways, one can find traditional clothing, fabric, souviners and fresh produce here. However, the fresh market section is where all the excitement starts. She was in awe of the wide variety of exotic food on offer, drooling as she walked along. As expected, it's quite busy at the market, but eventually she manages to find a seat to sit down and grab a bite of the yummy food on offer. From a hot broth for the winter, to little bites called Gimbap, to blood sausages, and finally local sweets to take away, seems like she left the market with her belly full.

#3 Our travelling/learning adventure last week in Prague, Czech Republic

The great thing about travelling is that we can learn so much from it, and that applies to kids as much as adults. @redrica homeschool her kids so on her recent trip to Prague she used that as a fun learning opportunity for her little ones. The inside of the cockpit is not something us adults get to see often, but her younger one manage to bag the pilot's seat - one advantage of being a kid! Prague is a beautiful city, perfect to expose children to history and architecture at a young age. She also went to the Stefanik's Observatory, which I'm sure both youner and old(er) can learn a lot.
