Travel Digest #206

Introduction

Hi @livinguktaiwan here today as @martibis is hitchiking and wildcamping across Europe somewhere with little internet connection, while @choogirl is probably lying in the pool also somewhere in Europe on her well deserved holiday.

#1 Greenwich, London - A day out for the cost of a sausage

Our first featured post today is from my home town London in UK. @izzynoel used to live around Greenwich and takes us for a tour around this beautiful village and its famous landmarks. First is the Greenwich Foot Tunnel built in 1902 you can actually walk underneath the River Thames via this tunnel. Next to the tunnel's entrance is Cutty Sark a 250-year-old sailing ship that used transport tea from China. A bit further on is the Old Royal Naval College designed by Christopher Wren, the Maritime Museum, Queen's House, and Greenwich Park. There is just so much history and things to see here. Finally, @izzynoel finishes her day back in Greenwich Village and a few typical British eateries.

#2 My Wednesday Walk. 'Bribie Island.'

If you fancy a relaxing walk, follow @trudeehunter to Bribie Island in Australia. Meaning Koala Bear in the native language this strip of island is only 34 km long and 8km wide and faces the Moreton Bay. As @trudeehunter follows the walkway she comes across some wartime memorabilia on display and a beautiful maintained park that is dedicated to all those who served in Vietnam. Before leaving the island, she drives across to the other side of the island and waits patiently for the sunset. Her patience pays off and she is rewarded with some stunning sunset shots.

#3 Tips and tricks Caye Caulker - Belize

Our last featured post today is from @haydae who offers us some tips and tricks to visit Caye Caulker in Belize. It's perfect stop for backpackers and is great for snorkeling and scuba-diving as it is located on one of the most pristine Barrier Reefs in the world. Having said that, Caye Caulker can be quite expensive especially compared to Guatemala or Mexico though they do recommend trying the lobster which cheaper than back home. On the upside, due to its multi ethnic heritage, English is spoken on the island, and the best thing? Cars are fobidden on the island. That will make a nice change and give you some peace and quiet.
