Travel Pro Hotels #9: Hotel David Alejandro Quito Ecuador!

in #travel6 years ago

Hey there my Steemit friends! I'm publishing these post from the Gagapagos Islands. But from the middle of December throught all of January I got bogged down with responsibilities in Ecuador. Everything from dealing with investments I have in this country to backlogging some blog posts so I can travel and keep posting. So I was living out of two hotels for the past six weeks. I spent about ten days in this hotel here in Quito in December.

Hotel David Alejandro is my go to hotel when I'm in Quito for the past several years, but I think I may be looking for an up-grade next time I'm in this city. The good thing about this place is that they'll negotiate down to ten USD per night. Which is really good for anything decent here. You just have to negotiate for at least three nights and the owner who is seemingly always there will give you a deal. For a couple, you could probably negotiate down to $12 or $14 per night.

So besides this place being a good deal. I find it to be in a great location. You can see it's exact location on the Steemit World Map. But it's basically right in the middle of the city on the western side of Park Ejido. You're walking distance to the popular Plaza Foche touristy night club and restaurant area, popular Avenue Rio Amazonas full of shopping and restaurants, and also walking distance to the UNESCO Heritage site of the historic area including the Basilica Gothic Cathedral.

So it's a good deal, it's in a good location, and it's safe. They lock the place up at night but you can always buzz the door to get in. There is 24 hour reception and the place has cameras and is very secure. You get a simple room, decent wifi, flat screen TV, private bathroom with a lousy hot shower; I will not lie.

Sometimes the rooms have been dusty and given me allergies. But they are generally clean. The walls are thin and I've heard people having sex from across the hall and several doors down. So this place is certainly not perfect; but if you're on a budget it's about half of the price I've found for the next step up in quality.

So David Alejandro has the right price, location, wifi, and security making it a Travel Pro Hotel but I'm not going to all out recommend it. This is due to the crappy shower in already cold Quito, dusty rooms on occasion, and embarrassingly thin walls. I'm going to do some more "Travel Pro Hotel Searching" next time I visit Quito and hopefully I come up with something better to share with all my Steemit friends!

One more thing I should note; I'm going to start tagging my hotel series posts under #travelprohotels. This way you can use my work as a travel reference much easier. Thank you so much my steemit friends for all your interest and support! Until next time -Dan "World Travel Pro!"

Hey! Nice to meet you! I'm new here. Do you ever need hotels near the airport in Quito for just one night? I stayed in a really awesome one near the airport...if you want the info I'll share!

I don't know of any good locations in the city as most of my time in Ecuador I spent outside of Quito.

Ecuador was the first country I traveled to...it's where I got infected with a chronic disease by the travel bug. It'll always be special in my heart...so I just feel so at home reading your post about Ecuador.

Are you there for a long time? I'm definitely going to follow so I can see all of the Ecuador posts now.

If you speak spanish, espero que tengas un buen dia!

Si yo hablo espanol. Si yo se un buen lugar tambien cerca del airpuerto, pero gracias, prefiero quedar en el cuidad. I didn't plan on being here for so long. Now I find myself i the Galapagos. Then I'll be back in Guayaquil working on my blog and making plans for my trip south in Peru and whatever is next after that. Thank you so much your support. I'll be in touch. -Dan

It looks very cosy to say the least and it has a special place in your heart, so you can call it many names (crappy, dusty and embarrassing... like your ex, maybe?), but there was a time you once loved it. Hahaha! 😂
Good to hear you made it to Galapagos safe and sound! Enjoy! 😊

Thanks guys. Galapagos has been good, but major disappointment they have 1998 quality internet here. I think it's a real shame, as this is a world class travel destination but the Ecuadorians could do many things to make it more appealing in general. Better internet is one for starters. I'll be around more often and check in on your blog next week. Thanks for keeping up with me. -Dan

Don't worry about us and keeping updated with your blog if the internet is sh*t. Maybe it's a sign to go out and enjoy what the island has to offer. :)

Another myth busted about Quito. I had it down in my mind as warm to hot but never cold!

Did you read my previous comment about tags, as in my original idea wasn't as brilliant as I thought, because they are only searchable for 7 days. So some kind of index post would work better! 😍

Thank for the info again on the tags. As far as quito, yeah it's just so darn high up in the mountains. Not too far from here there is Volcan Cotopaxi. on the equator, yet snow capped! So Quito is warm in the afternoons, but as soon as the sun goes down, it gets down right chilly! Glad I bust a travel myth for you! Still in the Galapagos but leaving for better internet Thursday evening. Hope you have been well. -Dan
