A Day in the Life! Koh Pha Ngan, Thailand

in #travel7 years ago

Life is good here in Koh Pha Ngan Thailand. How good? Let's have a look!

I woke up around 9 am and walked over to my designated office on Haad Rin Beach. I had a cup of coffee with bacon and eggs for less than two dollars, and steemed it!

After a few hours online I felt like getting a massage, so I did at Coral Bungalows for $4.50 for an hour Thai Massage.

Now feeling nice and limber I met up with some friends at the beach front pool. From left to right, that's Alon and Lean from Israel, Manny from Rome Italy, Kate from Holland, Tom from Holland and Leonardo from Sicily who are not in the photo but hung out the rest of the day. Between the seven of us I believe we spoke about 8 languages. Since the common language was English, that made things super easy being the only American in the group.

After hanging out in the pool for a while we decided to go next door to the Sunset Beach Club and rent kayaks with a clear bottom to see the coral and colorful fish below. Cost was $4.50 per person.

After kayaking as the sun was beginning to set, we stayed at the Sunset Beach Club pool and had a drink while watching the sun dip into the sea.

After a short while it was dark, we all went back to our rooms and freshened up. They got dressed like normal people. Having lived this life style for so long I've gotten kinda of hippy and just wear what's most comfortable;) We soon met up and walked over to Haad Rin Beach "Sun Rise Beach" and had a lovely dinner on the sand at Tommy Restaurant.

Being the World Travel Pro I know how to order in Thailand. Everyone was a little jealous of my superb 800 gram Red Snapper in a Thai chili sauce. Recalling from my first red snapper experience in Thailand 14 years ago at age 20; I walked right up to the seafood display picked the fish with the clearest eyes, knowing that would be the freshest.

I made sure to share, as Lean's hamburger and Manny's cardboard pizza didn't cut it. I then had to give a travel pro lecture about how to order when in Thailand! My fish and fresh young Thia coconut cost about 15 dollars. That was a splurge for Thailand, but well worth it.

After dinner on the beach, we walked around and saw what was going on.

We soon split up as some wanted to get a message, and some wanted to relax at the Esco Bar, a very cool place hanging out into the sea on Sunset Beach, only a five minute walk from Sunrise Beach. Having already gotten a message earlier I went with Manny to the Esco Bar.

Being similar age and both having a background in business and finance, we had a lot to talk about. He wasn't too happy with his life in Italy running his business and rental properties. He's a smart guy and knowing he was with the right company, he asked me many questions about how to live a simpler more free life; including how to manage his finances to do so.

It was about two in the morning when we left. We walked about a whole minute up the beach back to Coral Bungalows where we each had a room for $7.50 and called it a night.

What have we learned?

Life is good, and for about $10,000 dollars you can live every single day like this for a year!

Awesome post! Koh Pha Ngan is definitely one of my favorite places I've been to. There is nowhere else like it. My husband and I stayed in Thong Nai Pan and took a boat taxi to Bottle Beach -- it was the most amazing beach I've ever seen! Can't wait to go back.

Thank you. Couldn't agree more. This is one of my favorite places in the world!

Welcome as always...and do find tito chcheck my blog posts too

where else did you go? I was in Phuket for about 3 years and got to know the area well. Are you going to the north of Thailand at all? If your still in the south let me know and I will give ya some tips on some off the beaten path spots. happy trails!

I've been coming to Thailand since I was 20. I've been all over this country. I didn't plan on staying here so long, I've been having such a good time...I'm just in super chill mode here and enjoying myself. I'm off to Bangkok in a week, then out to Laos, for some more serious adventure travel skipping through the country.

sounds like a good plan. If you end up popping over to Saigon, Vietnam let me know. I can give ya a mini tour! Sa bai dee!

Sounds good. I would love that. Just don't think I'll be heading there this time around. But thank you!

np. Enjoy Thailand man!

Nice... the food look nice :)

You are so welcome :)

Wow ! Life really is good in Thailand !! So cheap for everything once your there !! When do you think the best time of year is to go there !? I always pictured it as being sweltering hot LOL! Don't like the heat so much , being Canadian and all ! Haha !! Looks like you really enjoyed your time ! Love the beach !! Upped and resteemed!💕✌👍💕

Thanks Karen you're awesome. I forget how the high low and rainy seasons go through out the year, and it changes for different locations throughout the country. Yes it can be hot here, but not overbearing, at least not for me. AC rooms are as little as 10 dollars a night, then swimming pool and beaches. So there's ways to cool off!

Cool ! Haha ! Thanks for the info !👍💕✌

You also acclimatise to the heat eventually. Our mate @world-travel-pro probably has some tips for that. Pretty much every traveller does. Soon you'll be complaining that 33 Celsius feels a little chilly.

Haha ! This is true , its like anywhere ! Thanks!💕✌👍💕

Ordering food is an under-appreciated skill! My wife is awesome at picking restaurants but I have the best luck ordering food.
Tourist mistake: ordering dishes from back home. Even if the dish is prepared well, the ingredients are different, the chefs might not understand the subtleties and the climate is different. I don't eat the same food overseas that I love eating at home for this reason. Nobody wants Disappointment Pizza.

Exactly. You totally get me. I'm gonna do a post on ordering in Thailand. And how to ask for no MSG and other little tricks I've learned. Sometimes that can be an issue here. But just ask for them to leave the MSG out and they do. That's more of bangkok or non tourist place. Here on the island of Ko Pha Ngan they generally don't put that in anywhere.

Sounds like you have a very lovely wife who knows how to choose a restaurant. Now she just needs to study that menu! I can be nuts with that. It's in my nature to analyze everything. I study menus and sometime it's takes me a while to order but I always order well!

Have had a couple incredible days hanging out with beautiful European girls by the pool and trekking through the jungle! Life is very good here. I'm so happy that steemit is working out for me all of a sudden. I even got a message this morning for my island tour post to be put in the Steemit Magazine run by some high up curators. Looks like the World Travel Pro has arrived! lol I couldn't be happier about it. Thanks for having my back when I was down and out just a few weeks ago. So glad I stuck with it!

Glad to hear of your continued growth in life and on Steem. Looking forward to that post on ordering food in Thailand!

ME TOO. To think I almost left this place for a pool full of hot European girls.....hmmm wait maybe I need to rethink that still! lol kidding :)

But here is my post. The second one now this week that's hit the hot page in the first couple hours! I'm thrilled about it!

well, that's a great life 😁 so to order a good fish I just need to ask for the one with the clearest eyes? :)

Check out my latest post and you've got all the tricks of the trade. Would love to see your opinion as you too are an experienced traveler in these parts.
