Exploring the fascinating TORONTO ISLANDS (+ I need your help!) [EN/DE]

Hello everyone! I continue with my next report about Toronto and this time I'd like to show you a place that really fascinated me, because it is only a ten-minute boat ride from downtown, but it makes you almost forget that you are in a huge metropolis!

Es geht weiter mit meinem nächsten Bericht über Toronto und diesmal zeige ich euch einen Ort, der mich wirklich fasziniert hat, da er sich nur eine zehnminütige Bootsfahrt von Downtown Toronto befindet und einen aber fast vergessen lässt, dass man sich in einer riesigen Metropole befindet!

The Toronto Islands are located directly opposite the city centre and can be reached quickly and easily by ferries or taxi boats. The trip is also quite cheap. I paid just under eight Canadian dollars (about 5.30€). The return journey is included.

Die Toronto Islands befinden sich direkt gegenüber vom Stadtzentrum und können schnell und einfach über Fähren oder Taxiboote erreicht werden. Zudem ist die Überfahrt auch noch recht günstig. Ich bezahlte knapp acht kanadische Dollar (ca. 5,30€). Die Rückfahrt ist dabei inbegriffen.

The islands are connected by bridges, so it doesn't matter which of the three mooring points you choose. I started with Wards Island, in the very east. Here is also one of the many beaches located, that the islands have to offer.

Die einzelnen Inseln sind durch Brücken miteinander verbunden, somit spielt es keine große Rolle für welchen, der drei Anlegepunkte man sich entscheidet. Ich startete mit Wards Island, ganz im Osten. Hier befindet sich auch einer der vielen Stränden, die die Inseln zu bieten haben.

On foot I made my way west. On the way I passed bridges to other islands, small marinas and interesting buildings like the fire station.

Zu Fuß machte ich mich auf den Weg Richtung Westen. Unterwegs passierte ich immer wieder Brücken zu anderen Inseln, kleine Yachthäfen und interessante Gebäude, wie die Feuerwehrstation.

Above all I was surprised by the flora and fauna. Swans, ducks, squirrels, frogs, numerous bird species and dense vegetation await you here.

Vor Allem war ich aber von der Tier- und Pflanzenwelt überrascht. Schwäne, Enten, Eichhörnchen, Frösche zahlreiche Vogelarten und dichte Vegetation erwarten einen hier.

On the opposite side of the islands you can admire the vastness of Lake Ontario. Here it almost feels as if you are at the sea.

Auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite der Inseln kann man die Weiten des Ontariosees bestaunen. Hier kommt es einem fast so vor, als würde man sich am Meer befinden.

Centre Island offers an amusement park for children, but it was already closed at the time of my visit. However, there are no barriers, so you can still walk through, very pleasant!

Centre Island bietet einen Vergnügungspark für Kinder, der allerdings zur Zeit meines Besuchs bereits geschlossen war. Absperrungen gibt es jedoch keine, man kann also trotzdem hindurchspazieren, sehr angenehm!

The evening and night view of the skyline from Olympic Island was the main reason for my visit. Here I spent a few hours with my camera and was able to shoot some pretty decent long exposures, which I will show you soon.

Der abendliche und nächtliche Blick auf die Skyline von Olympic Island war der Hauptgrund meines Besuchs. Hier verbrachte ich einige Stunden mit meiner Kamera und konnte ein paar ganz ordentliche Langzeitbelichtungen schießen, die ich euch bald zeigen werde.

Around 10.30 pm I took the ferry back to the city centre. I was really amazed by the Toronto Islands and there is a lot more to discover, so I am already thinking of visiting them again.

Gegen 22.30 Uhr ging es dann mit der Fähre wieder zurück in die Innenstadt. Die Toronto Islands haben mich wirklich begeistert und es gäbe noch einiges mehr zu entdecken, weshalb ich schon überlege, sie nochmals zu besuchen.
