Impressions from Singapore / Impressionen aus Singapur - part 2

das ist Tei 2 meines Singapur-Beitrags, hier geht´s zu Teil 1.

The first pic shows some of the solar trees from the Supertree Grove in the incredible "Gardens by the Bays", probably the no. 1 attraction in Singapore, especially during the night.

Das erste Bild zeigt ein paar der Solarbäume des "Superbaumwaldes" im phantastischen "Gardens by the Bays", einer der Hauptattraktionen in Singapur, vor allem bei Nacht.

These artificial "trees" are up to 50m high, planted on the outside and equipped on the top with solar panels which makes the light shows possible which are conducted in the night - very spectacular. A sky walk connects some of them, but I arrived too late for me to visit it.

Die künstlichen Bäume sind bis zu 50m hoch, aussen bepflanzt und oben mit Solarpaneelen bestückt, durch die Lichtshows in der Nacht ermöglicht werden - ziemlich spektakulär! Ein skywalk verbindet einige (ich kam leider zu spät, um den zu besuchen).

But I got up to a bar on top of the highest tree - the view from there was amazing!
Aber ich kam rauf auf das Dach des höchsten Baumes, wo eine Bar mit unglaublicher Aussicht war.

In the middle the Singapore Flyer, the second tallest giant wheel in the world, 165m high. On the right the "cloud forest", a kind of tropical rainforest house.
In der Mitte der Singapur Flyer, das mit 165m zweithöchste Riesenrad der Welt. Rechts der "Cloud Forest", eine Art tropisches Regenwaldhaus.

Now to something completely different: shopping. Another reason why people visit Singapore! High-end shopping centers with stores of probably all brands a fashion victim would want.
Etwas ganz anderes: shopping. Sicher mit ein Grund, warum viele Leute Singapur besuchen. High-end shopping centers mit allen möglichen Geschäften, die sich ein "Modeopfer" (eigentlich "label"-Opfer) nur wünschen könnte.

There are even fake-venice canals with fake-Gondolieris, who bring stressed shoppers a few moments of relaxation.
Es gibt dort sogar Fake-Venedig Kanäle mit Pseudo-Gondolieris, die gestressten Konsumäffchen und Besuchern eine kurze Verschnaufpause gönnen.

I am not so much in fancy clothes, but this golden plated "Emir" tea pot - not bad! Only app. 3600 USD!
Ich mache mir ja nichts aus überteuerten Modemarken, aber diese vergoldete Teekanne "Emir" - das wäre doch was! Nur ca. 3000€!

In a small supermarket all price labels were digital - maybe that is normal where you live, in Austria this is (yet) rather unusual.
In einem kleinen Supermarkt waren alle Preisschilder digital. Vielleicht ist das normal, dort wo ihr lebt, in Österreich ist das ein (noch) eher ungewöhnlicher Anblick.

You are a fan of Marvel and/or superhero action films? Then the "Super Heroes Cafe" incl. shop with all kind of superhero merchandising articles is THE place for you! It is so far the only one of its kind and the owner thinks about expanding to oversea - a business chance?
Du magst Marvel- und/oder Superheldenfilme? Dann wäre das "Super Heroes Cafe" inkl. Shop mit Superherodevotionalien genau das Richtige für Dich! Es ist bislang das einzige seiner Art und der Besitzer überlegt, auch nach Europa zu expandieren - eine business chance?

Every detail here is superhero-like, from the chairs and the menu to the meals incl. bat-shaped cookies.
Jedes Detail hier ist superheldengerecht, von den Stühlen über die Speisekarten bis zu den Batmanlogo-Keksen.

And then there is Chinatown - a completely different shopping experience 😊. Here bargaining is expected. For instance you can buy here decent silk shirts - which are the best in this humid heat.
Und dann gibt es noch Chinatown - ein komplett anderes Einkaufserlebnis 😊. Feilschen wird hier erwartet. Zum Beispiel kann man hier ordentliche Seidenhemden kaufen. Die sind das beste bei dieser feuchten Hitze.

But beyond the Chinatown for the tourists there is another layer and a place called "people´s park" complex (actually the first shopping center in Southeast Asia, built after a fire in 1970) with hardly tourists but a much more authentic atmosphere. Definitely more interesting (at least for me) than the shiny locations.
Aber hinter dem Chinatown für die Touristen gibt es noch eine Ebene und einen Ort namens "people´s park" complex (das erste Einkaufszentrum in Südostasien, errichtet 1970 nach einem Brand). Es gibt hier fast keine Touristen, aber eine authentische Atmosphäre und daher viel interessanter (zumindest für mich) als die glänzenden Fassaden.

At one of the entrances there is a huge "fat Buddha" statue. People go by and pet it - this brings luck!
An einem der Eingänge prangt eine riesige "fetter Buddha" Statue. Die Leute gehen vorbei und betätscheln sie - das soll Glück bringen.

I definitely have to come back and spend more time here! I hope I could give you a little impression about this multi-faceted city.
Ich muss unbedingt noch einmal hierherkommen und mehr Zeit verbringen. Ich hoffe, ich konnte Euch einen kleinen Eindruck dieser viefältigen Stadt geben.
