7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Asian Sunday week #21 – winner announcement!

@kcaj88 Asian Sunday entry:

This is a photo that I took in Xinjiang, China. That's a Euphrates Poplar Forest which is about 6000 years old. Euphrates Poplar can live up to 3000 years old and even though the trees are dead, they can still stand for another 3000 years. I think they are tough and strong there for I took that pic.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Australian Monday week #21 – winner announcement!

@stabilowl Australian Monday entry:

It was early evening and I was walking along the coastline at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney with my camera and tripod looking for something to shoot. I was almost at the end the the trail, close to Mrs Macquarie's Chair, when I was treated with this beautiful skyline of the City of Sydney, with all the colours reflecting on the water. I spend quite a bit of time there, perfecting my shots. And here is the best one.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Tuesday of Antarctica and world´s oceans week #21 – winner announcement!

@axeman Tuesday of Antarctica and world´s oceans entry:

To continue the series of frozen Baltic Sea coastline, here is quite a special and minimalist shot of the stone completely frozen into the ice. Stunning colors of very very cold winter sunset, cause by still very high humidity of the air and unique singh-ray color polarizing filter mounted. Totally phantasmagorical view. Enjoy it!

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – African Wednesday week #21 – winner announcement!

@photo-freediver African Wednesday entry:

Synchronized swimming. Not everyone knows that near the island of Mauritius, large herds of sperm whales live and grow their progeny. When we found out about this, we decided to fly there to check whether this is true. Our dream was at least to see these magnificent animals. Who could have known then that we not only managed to see the sperm whales, but swim with them and even practice synchronized swimming.

This is another from my trip to Iceland last fall. The landscape in Iceland is so unique because of the volcanic activity that it makes for some great photos. This is from the Borgarbyggð district of western Iceland. About 20 minutes up from here is the edge of a massive glacier that I had a chance to step on. This is truly a unique, beautiful part of the world.

Acropolis in the Morning, Athens

I found what I think must be the best view of the Acropolis at the top of Philopappos Hill. The hill is in the center of Athens, but from here, the modern city of cars and busloads of tourists somehow manages to disappear. I walked among olive trees in the footsteps of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle and at the top of the hill, I was rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Acropolis at dawn.

What a beautiful capture! Simply stunning.

Pfaueninsel (Peacock Island) - Berlin
I took these photos at the famous Pfaueninsel in Berlin-Wannsee. The island is located in the south-west of Berlin in the near border to Potsdam.

There are plenty of peacocks going around on this beautiful island. These animals are soo beautiful 😍 One of the best examples how nice mother-nature works...

This is Fanad Lighthouse in Donegal, the northernmost part of Ireland. I went there early in the morning to catch the sunrise and was rewarded with this wonderful light. It's quite a beautiful setting for a lighthouse. If you ever visit Donegal, make sure to pay this spot a visit.

Breathtaking and a beautiful shot!

so pretty! like a fairytale :)

amazing makes me want to buy a drone!

Beautiful shot! The clouds are making it extra dramatic!

Another shout out of this world! Perfect!

Here's my entry today for 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European

6. Salford rinawonderlands.jpg

I took this photo during my visit to Manchester. Lucky me to had this amazing sunset after a rainy day. I took it from a balcony of an apartment i stayed in, and i could see the Millenium bridge, Salford Quays. I love how colorful is the sky, almost like a painting. Despite that, the modern building and the lights also gives a nice reflection on the water.

Beautiful Sunset! Such a great shot!

Thanks @stabilowl . It’s a combination of the sunset colors and the lights from the building which makes it great 😊

Faublous image! Bravo!

LONDON-NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM: This amazing-looking building interprets the natural world very succesfully. I specifically recommend the blue zone (dinosaurs, mammals) for children and the green zone (planet’s evolution) for adults.

My photo was taken on the beach near town Abades, which is located on the eastern coast of Tenerife. There are several beaches nearby and the coast is very interesting. Last year I was just around spent several days shooting the coast. Every sunrise and sunset was completely unique.

That's incredible!

Thank you so much for your entry and this amazing image. Have a great day. Tomas

This photo comes from a trip that I took a few years back in Toledo, Spain. Here you can see the Alcazar of Toledo - today it serves as a military museum but many years ago it used to serve as a fortified royal palace! Definitely worth checking out if you're ever in this little town!

Northern Lights break out over the glacial lagoon in southern Iceland called Jökulsárlón. I lit the ice with a flashlight. The Aurora can be seen on many clear winter nights in Iceland, but this display was particularly good.

iceland ice.jpg

That looks amazing! How long did you have to spend there to get a shot like this?

Thanks! Not long, the Aurora was going steady that night, and I was going around to different places taking photos. :)

Splendid! This really is a nice shot :)

Thank you! :D

Amazing colors of the northern lights . I never seen one ever 😞 . Could you please advise, which month is the best time to come and see that?and which place?

Well, Iceland is a pretty reliable place - northern Norway also, and northern Canada, around Whitehorse or Yellowknife, or parts of Alaska. Between 60 degrees north and the arctic circle is the sweet spot. Best time of year is fall through winter, and beyond that it's down to solar activity and weather. As it happens, @chaseburnett authored an excellent guide just last night: https://steemit.com/photography/@chaseburnett/photographing-the-northern-lights-an-in-depth-guide

Of course there's also the southern lights...but I don't have experience with them.

🙏 thank you for the explanation. Well noted for my next trip 😊 hopefully i can see it and take a great pics like yours

When I was travelling to Norway, they said September to March are the best time for Northern lights. We were lucky and saw Northern lights almost everyday, but just the green stuff, not the bright pink and yellow which are much rarer

Cool. Well noted too 👍 thanks for the info :) i really wanna see the Northern lights one day

How lucky you are...that looks like a dream!

Thanks! I've been lucky to be in Iceland at good times of year for this. :)

What a beautiful capture! Fantastic image. Tomas

Thank you! :D

Hallstatt is a small town in Austria. It sits beside the beautiful Lake Hallstatt. I was there a few years back, travelling alone for the first time after I had a kid. The place was so picturesque, and the lake looks different everyday depending on the weather. This picture was taken on a fine, sunny morning after a night of rain.

Nice pic too :)

I want to be there right now! You have captured a perfect place in your amazing image. Tomas

Thank you Tomas! It is indeed a very nice place
