Tonight on The Dancing Dreamers with DJ Damashii: The Importance of Supporting Local Artists at Festivals and Shows! Plus, Special Guests HVLON Will Be In the Studio With Me!

Tonight's show is going to be extra special, and I hope you will check it out! Now that festival season is upon us, I wanted to talk about why it's so important for us as ravers to support our local talents. One of the things that I have noticed since I started going to EDM festivals again, is that most people who attend festivals don't really care to arrive when the doors open, and their reasoning is typically something along the lines of "Oh, it's just some local DJs who I don't really know or care for, I don't have to be there for that."

This kind of mentality is unfortunately quite popular in the EDM community, from what I've seen. And it's something that really should change, so I wanted to dedicate an entire episode to try to combat that line of thinking. In a similar vein, many people I've spoken to couldn't care less about attending local shows or underground events because the artists are not names that they are familiar with, or they're not popular enough for them, etc.

If we are to have a truly thriving scene, where new acts are constantly popping up and showing us that their music is worth listening to, we need to rid ourselves of this mindset and start showing our support for our local talents. We have to keep in mind that everyone we've come to know and love over the years was also, once upon a time, some random "no-name" who was easily dismissed at some point. Artists don't just jump into the mainstream overnight, that's a long process that typically consists of doing many smaller shows and playing at underground events, and for many, their first big break is that first festival that they get booked for.

We are on a precipice in the EDM community, and our scene is really set to explode once more in 2018, similar to the explosion we witnessed back in 2009-2013. It's high time that we started to do our part in helping the scene continue to grow and evolve with new sounds and new talents, and the simplest way we can do that is by supporting our local artists.

For tonight's show, I have some very special guests lined up, Salt Lake City locals HVLON. What makes this episode even more special is that for the first time since I started doing this show, my guests will actually be here with me in person, instead of guesting over Discord. It's definitely an exciting time for me, and I'm really looking forward to having them on the show tonight to talk about their music, their experiences in the EDM community, and the future of their career.

What is The Dancing Dreamers with DJ Damashii?

The Dancing Dreamers with DJ Damashii is the first Steem blockchain-related radio show that focuses solely on the Electronic Dance Music culture and lifestyle.

The goal is to shine a light on the true significance of EDM and really highlight the human face of the EDM scene, to combat this popularized stereotype that we are all just a bunch of irresponsible kids trying to escape from the problems of the “real world” for a few hours.

The show will discuss the deeper spiritual and philosophical themes and ideas that underlie the entire EDM culture and dig deep into how Electronic Dance Music connects us to a time in the distant history of mankind, when we were connected to each other and unified through tribal gatherings, sharing our dreams with each other and working together to make them a reality.

In keeping with the show’s name, The Dancing Dreamers will also feature Steemians who attend EDM festivals and events, and discuss their experiences there, as well as their hopes and dreams.

A wide array of Electronic Dance Music will also be played throughout the show, both “mainstream” tracks and original tracks by musicians who are on the Steem blockchain. If scheduling permits, EDM artists on the blockchain will also be featured on the show, where they will have a chance to talk about their music and share their stories with listeners.

I also plan on talking to people who are organizers of EDM events in their respective communities, and discussing their efforts to keep the scene alive and thriving on the local and underground level.
