Tonight on The Dancing Dreamers with DJ Damashii: Let's Talk About the Exploding Salt Lake City EDM Scene, Then Maclain Drake Will Tell Us About His Work Through Vibe Music Events!
For tonight's episode of The Dancing Dreamers with DJ Damashii, I decided to talk about the Salt Lake City EDM scene and how it's really popping off this year. I wanted to talk about this because of a situation that happened recently which caused mass chaos in the community and really showed anyone watching, the ugly side of certain people in our EDM community.
Everyone I've talked to has said something about how Salt Lake is set to be the next big destination for EDM. If that's the case, what kind of vibe are we trying to put out into the world, what kind of image of our scene are we painting for the world to see? I love being a part of the EDM community because in my experience it's always been a community based on mutual support and encouragement and being there for someone when they need help with something.
Recent events in the community have really been disappointing to me and many other people who witnessed everything happen. Several people have said that they will no longer support those people who really showed their true colors, and I think they have the right idea. I typically don't ever endorse boycotts, but after seeing the kind of things that these people were saying, all the bullying, all the threats of physical violence, I had to really ask myself if those are the kind of people I want to keep supporting.
The Salt Lake City EDM scene shouldn't be like every other big city market out there, where it's a dog-eat-dog system and everyone's really just out for themselves and would do anything to propel themselves above everyone else. But if we're not careful, that's exactly the direction we will end up going.
Our scene should be the exact opposite of that. We're a pretty small city, so we should all be supporting each other and helping each other achieve our dreams together. We should be ecstatic if anyone from Utah ends up making it big outside the state. So tonight, let's talk about what kind of community we would like to have here in Salt Lake City.
Then, in the second hour of the show, Maclain Drake, owner and president of Vibe Music Events here in Salt Lake City, will come onto the show with me to talk about the work that he does through Vibe. From what I understand, Vibe Music Events puts together events that facilitate immersive experiences for people who are deaf or hearing impaired. These experiences focus on exciting the other senses in order to get a full feel for the music.
It truly fascinated me when I first heard about Maclain and the work that he does, so I am excited to have him on the show tonight to tell us all a little bit more about everything! This is going to be a huge learning experience for me, and I invite you all to come along and learn with me!
What is The Dancing Dreamers with DJ Damashii?

The Dancing Dreamers with DJ Damashii is the first Steem blockchain-related radio show that focuses solely on the Electronic Dance Music culture and lifestyle.
The goal is to shine a light on the true significance of EDM and really highlight the human face of the EDM scene, to combat this popularized stereotype that we are all just a bunch of irresponsible kids trying to escape from the problems of the “real world” for a few hours.
The show will discuss the deeper spiritual and philosophical themes and ideas that underlie the entire EDM culture and dig deep into how Electronic Dance Music connects us to a time in the distant history of mankind, when we were connected to each other and unified through tribal gatherings, sharing our dreams with each other and working together to make them a reality.
In keeping with the show’s name, The Dancing Dreamers will also feature Steemians who attend EDM festivals and events, and discuss their experiences there, as well as their hopes and dreams.
A wide array of Electronic Dance Music will also be played throughout the show, both “mainstream” tracks and original tracks by musicians who are on the Steem blockchain. If scheduling permits, EDM artists on the blockchain will also be featured on the show, where they will have a chance to talk about their music and share their stories with listeners.
I also plan on talking to people who are organizers of EDM events in their respective communities, and discussing their efforts to keep the scene alive and thriving on the local and underground level.
