Rise of the minnows update.

Since becoming part of the #tenkminnows project and more specifically the push for 250 new minnows this month, i have been massively encouraged by the outpouring of support from the wider community that have gotten behind it.

So many people have used their time, votes, experience and apps to get behind these accounts and help to give them a boost on STEEM. I find it such a good feature to our community that people are so willing to get behind projects and people to help them grow.

If you have been using the blockchain but not powering up your account fully, I would recommend reading this post by @paulag that goes into some of the benefits to powering up your account. A lot of people don't realize the benefits to powering up and growing your account so a little more info is always a good thing.

It is tough going as a lot of the accounts that are near to minnow status are not fully active but we have been reaching out to as many as possible to get them interested and to take advantage of the support on offer. So while there are accounts in power down that have been going against our best efforts there have also been lots of successes as accounts move up and grow.

In the two weeks since we began this journey there have been 98 accounts that have grown to minnow status. Some more have come down from dolphin and some have dropped out from minnow but what we are focusing on are the people and accounts that are active and looking long term here on STEEM.

To be honest some of these have nothing to do with our efforts and got there on their own but I like to think that at least a few of them have come from the work that is going on here.

These are the future of the blockchain and will be the driving force behind the next wave of users that come into the eco-system. Having a large and active group of these accounts will be vital for spreading engagement and votes around for the next time that STEEM rises and brings in more people to the system.

Feel free to check them out and give some support and feedback as they make the push. Hopefully they should all be hitting that minnow status quite soon as they have been posting and growing their accounts.

Nothing worth doing is ever easy as the old saying goes so why would this be any different. If we are looking to build a solid user base to last over the next few years it is better to do it slowly and sustainably while bringing in new people.
