I'm Learning How To Be Happy With Little

From the past few days, I've been observing myself and my moods throughout the day and I've come to notice that I've been craving for something more and something new lately, and I think I know why.

The repetitiveness of my life has led me into extreme boredom and feeling disappointed and unsatiated. I literally remember complaining to my mom "Nothing new has happened in my life for so long!" as if she has the power to control the world around me.

This went on for a couple of days and the boredom led to demotivation which made me less attentive in college and unwilling to write my articles for Steemit. But yesterday, as I was lying on my bed using my phone doing absolutely nothing, I randomly decided to clean my sneakers.

I know right? That's so random! I guess I was so bored that I just wanted to do literally anything. So I took my sneakers out of the shoe cabinet and cleaned them and I don't know why, but it started to feel so much better after.

Even though it was a really small thing, it made me feel like that day wasn't a total waste. I know this might not sound like that big of a deal to some of you but it reminded me of how important the little things in life are.

It's better to make a lot of small changes in your life than to expect a big one to happen all on it's own. I know that me cleaning my sneakers doesn't really count as making a change, but I'm sure you guys get my point.

Finding Happiness In Little Things

The more you think about it, the more sense it makes. Majority of our lives are spent doing the same things every single day and often with the exact same people. The only reason big changes are big in the first place, is because they don't happen that often.

While big changes take a lot of time, effort, and planning, and aren't a part of our daily lives, small changes are what we have the most control over since we can make them anytime we want, just like I did.

Now, a big change is nothing more than a collection of a lot of small changes, right? So why don't we just create a big change by making a lot of small changes in our lives?

For example, try re-positioning some of your furniture once a year, or buy some new curtains and bed sheets to give your room a new look, or have a sketch made of yourself or your family by an artist, or maybe just try to go out to a different place to eat every Sunday.

This is how you develop an engaging new culture in your own home. All these little changes, when combined, highly influence your way of living and what you perceive to be as "normal".

I did something similar when I decided to get off my ass and clean my sneakers, and now I'm constantly trying to find new ways in which I can make these small changes which slowly but surely make my life just a little more fun.

Little steps cover large distances. It just takes consistency and effort.

I like to set goals and targets to achieve my plans. If you are tracking the little targets over time it all adds up and you can reach the bigger ones. I also find it motivates me when i have something within my reach to go for.

Agreed. Big victories are won by completing small individual tasks.

I can see that you have been doing very well lately as well on steemit. Now all you need to do is keep powering up some more of that STEEM to hit your 500SP target. So close to hitting a big target. That and making a nice post to celebrate your achievement. I'm looking forward to seeing that from you very soon.

Definitely. Thanks for helping me out :) I'll be making the post shortly!

Beer bottle in hand in this great scenic natural place is not said aa little ;))
