The tallest solar tower in the world
A huge construction height of more than 200 meters in the middle of the Negev desert causes many many questions. But the answer is obvious: it turns out that this is the central tower of the future Asalimskaya heliotermal station, one of the largest in the world.
The Ashalim station is arranged according to the principle of a device for concentrating the energy of the Sun. At the heart of the station's project are 55,000 computer-controlled mirrors, the position of which varies according to the movement of the Sun. Mirrors direct the reflected light to the "solar steam generator" - a special boiler located on top of the central tower. The solar tower with a height of 250 meters will be the highest in the world.
The station will generate 121 MW of electricity - 2% of Israel's total consumption. Electricity produced in Ashalim, enough to provide clean energy to 120,000 homes. Each year the complex will help save 110 thousand tons of CO2 emissions.
