I Spent My Christmas Day At The Hospital

So I spent my Christmas day at the hospital. Yeah, you read that right. No matter how careful I am with my food, I had biliary colic (gallbladder attack) on Christmas morning. It's hard to avoid triggering food when it's festive season. I am sure I am not alone in this.

What is biliary colic?

Biliary colic, also known as a gallbladder attack or gallstone attack, is when pain occurs due to a gallstone temporarily blocking the bile duct. Typically, the pain is in the right upper part of the abdomen, and it can radiate to the shoulder. Pain usually lasts from one to a few hours. ~ Wikipedia

We were supposed to attend a Christmas party a couple of friends house and had some fun time but we ended up staying for less than 30 minutes. I could barely eat anything but managed to eat a small portion of vegetables and gulped down a half cup of plain water. I couldn't eat anything much because I was nauseous.

And around noon time, 30 minutes after the party started, my husband rushed me to the A&E at University Malaya Medical Centre. There were quite a number of patients and I had to wait for almost 2 hours before I managed to see the doctor. I was given a painkiller jab which gave me immediate relief. The pain was so severe I almost fainted. They did a blood work to determine if my duct was blocked. The result came out negative though so I was sent home with some medications and a referral letter to see a specialist after Christmas.

I am feeling fine now but I have not much appetite. I am meeting up with a specialist tomorrow and please keep me in your prayers and hopefully, a surgery (gallbladder removal) will be scheduled soon. I just can't live like this anymore.

You can read my previous post about my illness here: I Have Been Ill and Hospitalized

Note: People fall sick all the time. I don't want this but it still happened. Please be kind and don't write 'nasty' comments with good intention. Stuff like "that's why you should eat this, do that etc." is untactful. I suffered a lot as it is already and this kind of comments discouraged me a lot. Going in and out of the hospital is not fun and there are many other stuff that are going on in my life that you have no idea about. Therefore, if you have nothing nice to say, just don't comment, don't vote, don't do anything. It's kinder that way. Thank you.
