Amazing & Weird Exoplanets #4

in #steemstem6 years ago (edited)

Hello and Welcome to another post about Amazing & Weird Exoplanets out there. We have reached part 4 of this mini series and today's theme will be again a little bit different than the others. We gonna dive into the magnificent world of universe and look for:

VINTAGE EXOPLANETS

Hipsters get ready!

PSR B1620-26B (Grandpa)

source

This exoplanet has been discovered at 1993 with NASA's Hubble Telescope and it belongs to the constellation of Scorpius. I gave it the name Grandpa as it is both considered as one of the oldest planets ever found and cause they discovered him back in 1993 while at the same time till today they haven't found an older planet. In case you are wondering about his age let me tell you that Grandpa is close to 3 times older than Earth with his age being 13 billion years old!

Also there is a sad and rough story behind this planet and i would like to share it with you. They say the older you get you gain more experience and witness a lot of new things. That's the exact thing with Grandpa as he is located in ancient galaxy where it orbits 2 hosts a pulsar and a white star. The pulsar was basically a random star that a sun like ours after becaming a red giant gave it's matter to it and the white star was a sun too that lost his core hydrogen and now doesn't produce new energy resulting in cooling down over and over. Plus, the planet has received too much radiation of BOOMS so even if life existed now nothing has left!

PSR B1257+12 B & C (Brother and Cister of Doom)

source

Have you seen what i did back there? (Cister, instead of Sister, i am so damn creative!). These 2 exoplanets are 2300 light years away of our houses, belong to the constellation of Virgo and discovered back in 1991. What is unique about these planets is that the whole solar system is completely DEAD! The reason behind that massacre is as usual because the star destroyed and provided radiation everywhere around as well as cold so there isn't the slightest chance something to live there, only dead remnants will be found. To make matter worse PSR B1257 +12 has turned into a zombie that keeps spinning, emitting radiation all over and that's how we manage to find this planet! So once again even if there was a chance somebody to survive the supernova he couldn't survive the continuous waves of radiation!

These discoveries are important cause we learn more about the destruction of a whole planet system so it provide us the useful info of what to look after for our solar system and what are the signs we need to know. Also we learn that the exploration isn't that happy expenditure after all, we must understand that there are scary things out there so none can easily guarantee we will find too many planets like ours or similar to us life out there!

I hope you enjoined it and in case you wanna read the other parts click Here1 Here2 Here3. For those that may be bored to read it i highlighted the important parts with bold! I am waiting for your comments, thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

thanks a lot!!

you've picked some nice pics there.
it's an intersting series

thanks a lot and god bless NASA for the pictures :p

the universe is huge and still feels us with mysteries , more stars seem to be having planets as new discoveries are made every day, the two planets above (grandpa , brother n cister of doom)seem to be in the dead zone, their are others that are goldilock planets that are habitable, what else lays out there

yes the universe is so vast, if you check in the post i have provided links of my other relevant posts.there i have dedicate a post about 2 planets that habitable

Interesting indeed. I have a hard time trusting nasa though. I use photoshop in my photography and have picked up on too much editing of their photos. Sad.
@jeejee

Very cool information. Share the knowledge with everyone. Good post and pictures.

Horrifying morning read brrrrrr
:)

haha it's good for waking up :P

The mysteries of the universe are worth exploring.
You can look at my article about the future of technology.

thanks for your comment and indeed the it's worth a lot to reveal the mysteries of universe!

really interesting, makes one wonder if they were any forms of lives in these planets before it became as they are now, and also wonder what will become of our solar system if this is so.

eventually our sun will ''die'' too, it's the natural outcome so think looking for other planets now gonna help a lot for our future

Cool article........ the grandpa planet..... I never know about that before.....

thanks a lot for your comment!
