What can we do to grow the STEEMSILVERGOLD group? Lets have some ideas #58
Greeting's stackers. It is I, silverstack of UK. I am looking for ideas from people who are put of the #steemsilvergold group. Is there anything we can do to get the group more recognized and out there abit more. I think we need to share and upvote each others posts. I myself today im going to go on a mission to check out every member's blog to see if i will follow are are. I only want to see silver related posts in my feed and i dont follow people and mute them, i dont see the point in that.
Each member from the most recent list by @hgmsilvergold Secretary #SteemSilverGold (His words) has been tagged to this post. What can we do people? I have decided to write up and really long post for thesilverforum.com, it will have lots of information about the group and a basic information about steemit. I reckon i can pull a few decent members from there, people who post great stuff daily already. Think about what you can do, i know writing a long post and answering the questions might take away 2-3 hours and its not alot but its something that will gain quality members and i think that more important than numbers. Comment below if you can think of anything, with everyone tagged, we should beable to think of something. I willing to give a few hours every week to help grow this group.

We could grow ourselves a silverwhale. Each of us contribute a little steem to one steemit account that becomes our own steemsilvergold whale and upvotes our all our posts.
Great idea, i dont have many steems but i did think about doing a 'raffle' anyway so any steem that raffle attracts could go towards a whale account and one lucky person gets a semi numismatic coin.
Im still trying to get my head around how this system works, i spent hours yesterday doing a series of posts then they get drowned out by the bow wave of all these whale posts. I always up vote and where time allows respond to comments and i add any newbies to my follow list apart from that i dont know what else i can do

I have the same problems with my posts getting drawned out. I think a group whale could be something to do. I need to do a bunch of research so i have half an idea of what it's about and how to achieve setting one up.
thats a great idea, i would donate when i have a bit more steem, i always upvote but im not worth anything yet sometimes a penny if im lucky, but it wont be long until we all have alot more voting power :)

That's pretty interesting. You would do it on a percentage based on what you contribute? Would you know how to take such a challenge on? are know how to get started. I kinda really like that idea.
A one time 5% contribution from each steemsilvergold member would be used to setup this account with any futher donations welcome. As with all democracies we could do a vote to elect 3 active steemsilvergold members to manage this account, all three would have the password and voting privileges. From there someone computer savy could setup a server to automatically upvote any post we send to them. A simple .001 sbd each time from there on triggers the action.

I like this whale idea by @tzcap, I don't have any technical skills to help set it up but you can count me in! There's also the option of individuals setting up the app called auto steem 1.4 to auto vote each other but you would have to set it at like 1% voting power or we would run out real quick.
Its something im going to research into more when i get the free time and make a post about it. Im sure between us all, someone will know someone are something that help us set this up. We can a whale set up, i am sure of that :D Thanks for commenting

Been thinking about this a little more it seems as the community grows it would be impossible to vote everybody all the time, maybe we could put some kind of limit on how often people post using the tag?
true. also, we also need to properly unite as a community. i don't think we are doing the best we can do with little combined sp we have at the moment.
Actually guys some of the third party sites make it pretty easy to achieve this kind of thing, I've been quite active with #teamaustralia, and they do a lot of these things. If we al autovote the whale profile at %100 a couple times and week with steemvoter it would grow fast, we can also each follow the whales trail on steemians this we would all then be autovoting on each other for every post the whale account votes on. The whale could always resteem members content too, for members theat don't actively follow everyone. From my understanding bots can also be very easy to implement once you have the code for them, I think this is a really good idea and I would love to help any way I can.

As a new member its time I feel will give us the best option expand. As new members join they will find us, just like I found you guys. I like the idea of upvoting each others posts(I'm still getting to terms with all this mind). Everyone loves a giveaway, maybe we all upvoted a specific post and the money generated is used to buy a piece e of silver for that giveaway??
Giveaways will always happen within the group with the likes of #britcoin and a few others being in the group. I plan to do a xmas lotto draw for a 1oz custom steemsilvergold bar :D
I agree with what you are saying about supporting each other, my vote power that i have building the last 3 days is gonna get destroyed, back back to penny upvotes :'(
The whale idea is great as is the giveaway but how about a pay it forward type of thing starting with one member sending another a piece and when that member receives it he sends his choice to.the next person Rules can be a minimum value and a time frame.
How do you mean, sending steem? Would only take 1 dishonest person in the chain to ruin it by stealing it. Maybe i have misunderstood your idea.

Sounds pretty cool. A person would beable to set that up with a post and keep editing it to keep an opt-in list up to date of opted in members, then gather together shipping addresses and stuff would came after. That's me just guessing how to do that :D

Hey there guys I want to give my feedback to all this, I commented earlier about the whale, which would be easy but I don't think that should be our main priority and first action.
There are lots of communities here and steemit and that's really what we are. Most communities are very organized, they have executive committees and organizational structures, they have missions and goals. I've even seen them have votes and reforendums, we know @hgmsilvergold and @pawos currently have executive positions, @sirknight is a member of our community, and also high ranking and very active within #teamaustralia. They are one of the biggest and most well respected in all of steemit. I know he is super busy but we should seek his guidance. I also think we need to think bigger then just how to make ourselves more sbd here. Many communities help support a charity or a cause. And that would certainly help to draw in members and whales from within steemit. Many of us our well connected outside of steemit and those people can certainly promote steemit to there friends and audience and we will certainly continue to grow. I really think first we need to get better organized internal and figure out many things.
When the time comes for some sort of giveaway or promotion phelimint would be happy to provide and prize and sponsor something that way.
As for this whale, I think it needs to be put on the back burner and if we all decided in and executive and voting then we can leave it it there hands how to best use and organize it. Most communities have you just delegate steem power to the whale and you regularly vote for it to make it grow, there are no mandatory donations.
Also many communities on steemit are very active on discord as a chat app, I'm sure we can start our own channel, or we could have an open sub channel in the PAL discord chat. If that's something people are interested in I can certainly ask around there.
First we do need to just hold tight and wait for guidance from our current executive of @hgmsilvergold and @pawos.

I hate the be "that guy" that throws a wet blanket on an brain storming session, but I have a few doubts about some of the "growth" strategies I'm seeing. I think this community is good just the way it is.
Would I like to see it grow? Sure. But if it's going to grow, it should grow "organically", not with some Steem-Steroid Powered Franken-Whale.
Looking at the member list above, we've got about 100 members and we're growing. What happens when the group-whale doesn't upvote me as much as I think it should? What happens when the group-whale upvotes the same guy 3 times in a day? You get the picture. Accusations of favoritism, cheating, and black-listing will not be far behind.
**Let's face it, we're all stackers because we are by nature contrarians. ** We see everyone unquestioningly going in the same direction and we say "wait a minute. Is this really the right direction???"
Now I'm not just here to point out problems, I also wish to offer a few solutions:
If we're not careful, we could destroy our little oasis in the midst of a sea of Steemit Crap.
great reply, i think as far as the whale is concerned, ground rules would need to put into place. The group is small now, and maybe it could be a thing were a starting group would invest in it but its upvotes go to all members. Starting investors would own the whale account and use curtion money to reinvest into the whale. Down the road in 1-2 years if there are 1000 members, they will all get a tiny piece through upvoting and but maybe only 40-50 members will own the whale. Every member get benefit and the better the content the bigger the whale becomes. Not about growing the group as much as making it better for members we have already.
That desktop idea is really good, to filter out all the rubbish. That is deffo a good idea.
We could do a couple group GAW that involve resteeming certain post and that way new members could help spread the good word of precious metals! Thanks for this!

I really appreciate you taking initiative like that! I'm trying to stay busy in the comments as much as time allows! The #steemsilvergold group certainly has some of the coolest people I've ever chatted with! I'll do my best to help and support everyone though I admit I miss too many posts! I think we're building something very unique and very cool here and I hope to add value to the conversations being had. Upvoted and resteemed, thanks for taking the time to share!
Has to be done, the group will grow but but i think the vision would be to have the #steemsilvergold hashtag on the right hand side of the home page along with all the other most popular tags. I tihnk when are if bitcoin goes south, we will receive alot of new members. :) Thanks for taking the time to comment. We are stronger together and all that good stuff :D
