How to establish ourselves as the #steemsilvergold community in response to the recent discussion.

in #steemsilvergold7 years ago

Hey there guys I want to give my feedback to this recent discussion on how to better support ourselves as the #steemsilvergold community here.

There are lots of communities here on steemit and that's really what we are. Many communities are very organized, they have executive committees and organizational structures, they have missions and goals. I've even seen them have votes and reforendums, we know @hgmsilvergold and @pawos currently have executive positions, @sirknight is a member of our community, and also high ranking and very active within #teamaustralia. #teamaustralia is one of the biggest and most well respected in all of steemit. I know @sirknight is super busy but we should seek his guidance. I also think we need to think bigger then just how to make ourselves more sbd here. Many communities help support a charity or a cause. And that would certainly help to draw in members and whales from within steemit. Many of us our well connected outside of steemit and those people can certainly promote steemit to their friends and audience and we will certainly continue to grow. I really think first we need to get better organized internally and figure out many things.

Some of my good friends here in steemit just started a new community here steemph you can read more about them here. They are very focused on charity, I'm not suggesting it needs to be our main focus but it's something we should consider.

When the time comes for some sort of giveaway or promotion phelimint would be happy to provide and prize and sponsor something that way.

As for this whale, I think it needs to be put on the back burner and if we all decide we want to move forward with this we can use the newly formed executive and vote on how best to utilize and automate this account more fairly for everyone. Most communities have you just delegate steem power to the whale and you regularly vote for it to make it grow, but this can all be hashed out in the end.

Also many communities on steemit are very active on discord as a chat app. I have asked the admin at the MInnow Support Program/PAL discord chat. We can have our own channel there if we have 15 members signed up as minnow support program members and they support the request for the channel on the discord chat.

Here are some links to learn more about the Minnow Support Program and how to join. They also have a website with more information on there initiatives.

I think steemit is a great platform and it's really community driven. I think there is certainly a lot we could be doing to support each other and help each other grow. There are lots of automated ways to do it with third party sites and bots we can certainly consider but I do think we have to look internally for some organization first. I hope we can start a further discussion about how to best organize ourselves. I'm active in discord if people want to have any direct conversation there. It's pretty easy to have a group chat there too without an official channel. The details and links about joining discord in the minnow support links above.

Ps sorry I don't want to take over the conversation but really wanted to get this information across to everyone

Sort:

we know @hgmsilvergold and @pawos currently have executive positions

dear @phelimint. let me give you a short statement. i never had any position in #steemsilvergold and i left the community last week, because i really missed more engagement, like @sirknight is doing for #teamaustralia. i still follow some members, but not everyone! there are some, who are really engaged and that's what i want to support and what i'm going to do more.

I'm sorry to hear that @pawos, i was unsure about the official structure currently in place but I did know that you had a big part when I originally joined. So just to confirm the @hsmsilvergold is the secretary and that's the only currently established structure? I do think we need to rectify that and get more organized here. I hope when we get more organized you would consider helping us once again.

So just to confirm the @hgmsilvergold is the secretary and that's the only currently established structure?

yes. he has the only official position.

I do think we need to rectify that and get more organized here.

ay. that's really important, otherwise the community is falling asleep. another problem is, that not everyone follows each other or at least most of them.
i wish you the best of luck with the group, be sure i will notice any progress, because i will still follow some members as we do share our interest in pm's.

This is great. I have quickly scanned this Minnow Support Program and its all brand new information to me, i will need to take 30 mins to read it properly so i understand it better. I think we can have 15 members sign up a piece of piss. This would give us a better sense of community having a channel to visit.
As far as the whale, like you say, leave it on the burner. Maybe in 2-3 months when there are enough members to upvote the crap out it to build steempower for free.
This is exactly what i wanted to happen when i made that post, the ball is starting to roll. Thank you so much @phelimint for making this post. And you are not at all taking over as much as you are building the conversation. I would love to see a member every day make a post like this one. We'd soon by a force not to mess with :D

Edit, feel free to copy paste the member tag list from my post that i stole from hgmsilvergold post to get all members involved and get you rewarded for your work

Thanks so much @silverstackeruk it was great to see the discussion you started yesterday and I'm very excited for the future of our little community here.

Hi All,

I have come to post here to support your community, even though I am not a member. I am an active member of the #teamaustralia community though and this is what I believe is working for us:

  1. Active discussion and camaraderie through the chat channel
  2. Support through regular upvoting and commenting on community posts
  3. Some 'executive positions' for recruitment and direction
  4. A few bots that support all members so every post gets a vote for every member in the community
  5. Supporting every initiative for that supports the community - whatever that may be - a collective effort to support every member will result in more SP for everyone eventually and build the strength of the community.

Only through collective support will you strengthen the community. I have been lucky enough to become a part of that supportive community as well.

Good luck and I hope some of my ideas might be of some assistance.

Thanks very much for the feedback @scooter77 I've really been inspired but what you guys are doing at #teamaustralia and think we can try to achieve a little of that in our little community here. I think we're on the same page with a lot of ideas so thanks very much. When I comes time to work in some bots I'll be for sure reaching out to you for assistance and connection on discord. Thx again.

Great initiative and great ideas! I love seeing this conversation growing and with awesome input like this I feel we can really hash out our direction! Resteemed in the hope that it reaches someone new with something to gain from reading it! I'm still fumbling around Steemit so I don't really understand all the background bits but I love the mission. I see myself as a #steemsilvergold member who uses Steemit rather than vice versa and I'm doing my best to add my small voice to the chorus!

Well if team Australia accepted one Canuck do u think they'd accept my ass? I'm having trouble reaching the masses with my quality content lol I mainly use the #steemsilvergold tag but not all my posts are metals related. I also think I pissed off whalepower because I swore alot in a post and i guess that's against their rules?..kinda lame but I'm not trying to get on the wrong side of major whales 😞

I think your stuff can certainly be pretty risqué man, I can see how some people may take offense. There are lots of communities and niches here I think you'll need to find where that content best fits and start engaging with those communities. Your welcome to reach out to team Australia they are awesome. I good place to start is with the minnow support project, they do have some self voting bots and things in place as well.

Check my last post player. Real Canadians need your help 😁

Thanks for the reply, risque lol I need to find an adult humor group or some other cool spot for the well endowed or something? Also idk bout minnowsupport? I'd rather have real ppl checking out and upvoting my content. Not that there's anything wrong with bots I know they get used heavily here

nice mate, good post! :) will resteem now, upvote later when my power backs
