First things first, if you are planning to travel to any touristy place in Canada, especially during long weekends start preparing at least two or three weeks before. Or rather \ book your hotels,train/bus or whatever before one month itself. Because if you are a last moment planner like me you may end up losing a lot of money and time !!! I have gotten away with last minute planning in other places but never even once in Canada.Lols :D Especially in summer, not a day is to be wasted sitting at home. Its the season of sunshine and exploring !!!

Our destination for the Thanksgiving long weekend was initially Tobermory. We booked a hotel. But there was no transportation to Tobermory. The bus services were only from June to September which we were not aware of. Now will have to wait till next year summer to visit I think. In Canada if you don't have a vehicle you'll have to shell a lot of money for travelling. Or rent a vehicle at least.

So we rerouted to Montreal, just one week before the holidays. Usually people take a three day package of Montreal,Quebec,Ottawa . But the last minute planner had no luck and all the packages was sold out. So we decided to go to Montreal and see places on our own. Hence we had to take the only available bus and hotel. It takes 6.5hrs from Toronto to Montreal. So its better to travel at night .But all the 12am bus schedules were sold out and the hotel ended up being a bit far from the touristy location.🙄 We decided to go still because this was the last chance to see places before winter arrives and you prefer to stay in your cozy, warm home during weekends🤓

Our day one in Montreal started at evening 4'o clock. But was still enthusiastic even after a sore butt sitting all day in the bus😂

Montreal is one of the largest French speaking city in Canada's Quebec province. A little bit of Europe in North America. In earlier days people spoke only French and if you don't speak French they have nothing to do with you. Even now all the sign boards are in French. Not to forget the food menu. The people were very warm and friendly just like rest of Canada. Also Montreal is a very cold city. If you are visiting it even in fall be prepared with enough warm clothes.

Since we already lost a lot of time we had to take cabs to downtown. There are free shuttle van services but it will take double time as they go through every alley and pocket roads to pick up people.

The first place we went was St.Josephs Oratory. Largest shrine dedicated to Saint Joseph. It is located on top of a hill, right in the middle of the city. It has the largest dome and is an architectural marvel.

It was truly a divine sight to see the shrine among the fogg at night. The shrine is open to public till 9pm.

That was pretty much our day one and dead tired.
Rest of Montreal (beautiful autumn pictures and less ranting) will continue in part two.

All pictures belong to me. Taken using NikonD3200/LG Xcam/LenovoK4
