What an awesome trip! I went to Seattle many years ago and remember seeing the impressive snow-capped Mt. Rainier on the horizon. Keeping a travel journal is great, I did this only for parts of some of my trips, I finally have to go through them!

Hehe man, this began my need to do more traveling and see the world. I denied myself too long to explore and needed to make up for lost time. I wish I could've seen the summit but not to be at that time.

I am glad I did the journal back then because I wouldn't have been able to remember all these little stories along the way. It does take time and patience to write them but well worth it!

Yes definitely go through them, we all have different stories to tell!

Thanks a lot for the mention on the world map :)

I think it's a very wise decision to take a brea after 6 years of PhD, it was well-deserved, my friend! What was your PhD thesis about btw?

I think it's best to keep awake during the flight to overcome jetlag if you are flying towards west.

Sorry to hear about your photos being deleted by the way. Keep up the good work :)

Thanks @haritakurdu! I appreciate that! It was in Materials Science, I was looking at using a relatively new process on a relatively new aluminium alloy to make certain car engine components more durable.

Yes I keep awake when going West as you follow the Sun but going East is a different game altogether...

I was devastated when my SD card corrupted on the 5th day. I felt sick, they were my photos... Gone. But thankfully have some sent from those who were also in the group which I was so grateful for and could relive some of the moments too.

Glad you enjoyed the read. Trying something different with these journals 😊

Ah thanks so much @travelfeed and I'm really glad you enjoyed the article. Thanks for letting me be a part of it, eccentric former scientist now a great ponderer :D

Awesome trip you had! So cool that you kept a travel diary. I should have done that years back, when I started to travel. I thought I could rely on my memory - big mistake. Luckily I still have some of the photos I took - many of them got lost during the many times I moved around.

I know what you mean about relying on memory. So many things I forgot until reading back. Just need to have discipline to write them fairly soon after the day is finished otherwise you move on to the next thing and you can't remember everything.

My heart would skip a bit if I feared something was missing or it was lost. I'm gutted about the camera and losing the 5 days of this trip from my own snaps. Hope you keep on to those pictures for a long time!

Quite an adventure! Good idea taking notes truly capturing those random thoughts you collect on these hikes ahah. You make me want to go back to Canada and see the Rockies on the US side.

Phew it feels like a long time since I wrote this! I didn't get very at all with the USA travel diaries series! I will work my way back to them but I have the other side of the world to write about still with the Australia and New Zealand series!

I'd definitely recommend Glacier NP if you love the Rocky Mountains though, plenty of amazing hikes there. Think I managed to get to Glacier NP in the series before other things took over!

Thanks for reading and commenting on this one 🙂
