Thoughts on the SteemMonsters project -- An interview with the pizzachain

in #steemmonsters6 years ago (edited)

Steemmonsters... a growing game,
Steemmonsters... with a lovely name,
But how should we treat them?
How should we love this beautiful gem?

Today an interview will be held, which will answer those questions. With 16 years of life experience, multiple years in the crypto-world and more than 200 packs on his name, I present to you: @pizzachain! Let's get to the first question!

What is “Steem Monsters” exactly?
Steem Monsters is a project founded fairly recently by aggroed and his assistant. It’s about collecting cards through buying card packs and/or trading them with others. Currently, it’s just collecting, but soon we’ll be able to fight each other with these monsters in tournaments!

Hey! There are “Monsters” and “Summoners”... What is the difference?
Summoners spawn the monsters. That’s quite simply how it works.

There is currently exactly 1 summoner for each type: Malric Inferno for fire, Alric Stormbringer for Water, et cetera! As far as our best theories go, these summoners will have a certain mana cost, just like each monster. The summoners will be able to spawn monsters with a total mana cost sum equal to or below their mana cost. They should be able to summon monsters from any type, but will only give buffs to monsters of their own type.

What do you like about the new Steem Monsters project?
There's multiple things I like about the Steem Monsters project. First of all, it's a lot of fun to play with the Steem Monsters cards. Trying to collect all monsters, or simply all cards of a certain class is a great adventure. The nice looks of the cards adds to the fun as well. With tournaments coming up soon, it will also provide for some much needed competitiveness, which is always fun to me.

The tournaments will also give people the chance to win STEEM, SBD, booster packs, cards or upvotes, which can't be seen as a bad thing, mhm? To skilled/lucky players it may offer a nice opportunity to grow their bank account :P

The last, but most definitely not the least part I like about the Steem Monsters project is its community. There are a lot of players who actively interact with other members of the Steem Monsters community. This is often done here on Steemit, but there's also a [Steem Monsters discord channel]( for anyone who wouldn't mind meeting new people ;)

Why do you want to get involved with Steem Monsters? To play? To invest? Perhaps a little bit of both?
I mainly want to get involved with Steem Monsters to play. It’s a bit of gambling on how good the gameplay will be, but I trust Aggroed and the other guy on making it great! They nailed the artwork, so I hope the gameplay will be of the same quality. Making the money I spend on it back would be a nice addition though ;)

What experience do you have with any previous card games in existence?
I don’t have a lot of card game experience. I’ve only played and traded a bit with pokemon cards, but I wasn’t really active in it though, nor was I of any competitive nature there. Unlike others, who actively tried to get the best pokemon and often even cheated to achieve that, I rather did it for fun and kept pretty low-level cards as well.

What are your thoughts about the artwork in the game? What’s your favourite card?
I personally love the artwork in the game. It’s one of the primary reasons I like Steem Monsters as much as I do. All the cards look pretty neat, with some standing out even more. My personal favourite is the Air Elemental. It looks really cool and especially dangerous. He seems to have a blue body, using clouds in a cool manner as well, which I simply love. There are some other really good examples of nice looking cards though.

For regular/gold, I would go with the golden Air Elemental. This is not because he's much stronger or much more rare, but is due to my love for colours... Blue, white, gold... Gotta love it! A scary, dangerous monster, yet in such a colourful environment.

If you had to promote this game outside of Steem, what would you do to attract people to it?
This is a hard question. One could think it may be possible to create a hype around them like the pokemon cards had, but the fact that this is Steem-based and may be harder to access for the younger audience makes that a less viable option.

However, a great way of attracting people may be by telling people about it on other (crypto-)game’s discords/telegrams. (Not in an invasive way, but rather in a friendly manner). I’d also try to set up a signature campaign on Bitcointalk.

It’s relatively hard to find the right target audience for Steem Monsters, but these 2 ways seem like the most eligible candidates to me.

What card or which cards would you recommend getting?
To be honest, that’s completely your decision! I am personally assembling a Gold foil team within the life class, but that’s simply because I like the looks of some of the life cards and got lucky with getting some of these life cards in booster packs.

Soon, stats will be released. When that happens, you may try putting together the best possible combination of cards with the given stats of each monster/summoner!

So how would one get started with Steem Monsters?
Very simple! You just go to https://steemmonsters.com/#, create an account and buy a starterpack. Next you can buy more booster packs to gamble for good cards or trade cards in the Monster Market!

What if you don’t have lot of money?
That’s perfectly fine. Steem Monsters is a game in which the very rich guys gain a bit of a head start early on, but the neat thing about Steem Monsters, is that you can level up your monsters in tournaments, trade them with others, win prizes and get more cards. Without spending a lot of money, you can still get a nice collection, as long as you play your cards right ;)

Do you have any tips for other players?
Of course I do! Here on steemit, we organise a lot of contests/giveaways. There are multiple really nice ones going on and 1 large official one as well, where you can even win a Golden Legendary.

Participate actively here on Steemit and on the Steem Monsters discord for your shot at these prizes. It doesn’t only help you on your journey, but provides you with a lot of fun as well.

Is there anything you want to say?
Have fun playing!
