Introduction | 简介

Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple is a Buddhist place of worship for the goddess of mercy, Kwan Im. In 1980s, it was rebuilt as the number of worshippers increased over the years. During the lunar new year, many people will go to the temple to pray for good luck throughout the year. I guess you can say prayers are good for the soul and so the the so good for the soul of the city then. :-) One of the day that the temple will have an high volume of worshippers is on the 26th day of the first lunar month. On that day, the goddess wealth vault is opened and you can go there to "borrow" lucky money. If you had "borrowed" last year and had a good year, you should "return".

观音堂佛祖庙是一个佛教的供奉观世音菩萨的庙。在20世纪80年代因崇拜者的数量增加已经重建过， 在农历新年期间，许多人都会去请求保佑希望全年都有好运。 我想你可以说祈祷对灵魂算是有好处吧。这样说也 对整个城市的灵魂没坏处。 :-) 一年当中有大量的崇拜者的日子之一是农历一月二十六日了。当天是观音开库。你可到那里"借"红包。如果去年"借"了红包，今年就要"还“红包。

Entry 2 | 第2参赛作品

The photograph I'm submitting as second entry for this challenge is taken outside the temple on the day the wealth vault is opened. It is always so crowded on that that the extra security officers had to be deployed to manage the crowd. This is taken using my mobile phone and post processing has been done to convert it to black and white.

我提交作为这次摄影挑战的第二张照片是观音开库当天在观音堂外拍的。每年当天都人山人海。不得不加派护卫员加强保安和维持秩序。这用我的手机拍后再用软件处理把照片转换为黑白。
