Steemitmamas Parent Contest: My greatest fear as a parent
Yesterday I just participated in @crispinhung The 10 Year Challenge Lucky Draw. I shared in my post a photo of me with Baby Halley in 2009 and a photo of me with Halley and Ryenne in 2019. The year 2009 is the year I officially entered motherhood. Baby Halley entered my life. I am a mother! Wow! Even until now it's still unbelievable to me that I am a mother of three. I have no idea how I make it but I just do... 😂😅
My greatest fear as a mother is I am afraid that I am not good enough, I have not done enough to be a good role model for my girls. There are many things that I know I should and I could do better. I could manage my temper better. I could manage my time better to be with them. I could be more patience to listen to what they have to say.
But sometimes I just snap. I know I could be a better me. And I should be a better me for them and for myself. My fear is because I have not enough confident in myself. I have been "locking" my true self deep down inside, don't want to expose myself. But then I learn that I should not hide or escape my fear. I should step out and talk about it and find ways to overcome it. Even if I can't overcome it, I can learn to manage it.
Steemit has been a magical playground for me. I have met so many awesome friends and we are like a family now. I am really glad that I am a part of @steemitmamas where we can share and where understand and support each other.
We are never alone in the motherhood journey. So no matter what fear we have, we are never alone. ❤️❤️❤️

I snap sometimes too :(
In fact, I just snapped right now at the grocery store. The kids were screaming and yelling and one of them was dragging themselves in the floor.
I abandoned the cart and (and yelled at all of them) then went to a different store to buy only milk (my mom babysits and if there is no milk she freaks out) drove home and made them take all their stuff out of the car.
Now I’m in the car...
They are (hopefully) upstairs cleaning up and for dinner we will be having ... maybe potatoes and beans? 😂😂😂 whatever we eat it will be pantry leftovers ...
The boy wanted spaghetti...
He might get dry toast..

I can visualize the scenario. I guess most of the mums couldn't stand the screaming part, same to me (not a mum yet) . Emotional intelligence and patience are highly needed. 😅 Sometimes might need a time off to calm yourself down 😊 you are doing good as a mum, still have to prepare meal even we are angry, that's mum's mighty love. 👏

Hi @elizacheng! I believe you are a great mum to your three daughters! No mum who wants to give the best to their children are a bad mum. So do my mum, who let go of her career and also learnt to cook from nothing just to bring raise the three of us siblings. Her sacrifice are incomparable to what I can do for her. Mums are amazing 😁 Ganbatte!

I resonate with every single one of these. If we work on what we recognize and do the very best we can then we are doing okay ;)
Our children know we love them but we are also showing them the realness of life and flaws. They need to see that mommy isn’t perfect. We can always do better so let’s strive to be better together!
