Content And Interaction Vs Earnings

Yesterday, I shared with the world the story of my journey on Steemit. I got the idea for it from @rodeo670 who linked his contest post to me on the discord App. He is holding the contest to celebrate gaining 100 followers if you would like to participate, you can find it here. After having finished my post and while going about my daily activities, I started thinking about all the things that I have learned from Steemit. Oh before I forget...there was another reason why I started thinking about all those things that I will talk about in this post.

I found the post while curating on Steemit submitted by @ogochukwu. For those of you who haven't read it yet, I highly recommend that you do so by going here. He discusses a lot of things with us in detail but mainly on the topic of why users shouldn't treat Steemit the way they do and how they should go about using the platform instead.

I couldn't stop myself from thinking both about my experience as well as the points he brought up in his post. When I first discovered this site, I was surprised, shocked and ecstatic because people were making a lot of money. What I am going to discuss is what I have learned so far and I hope you can give me your two cents. We are all here because we believe we can make some extra cash on the side and there are those that believe they can take advantage of the system by spamming and plagiarizing. I am not going to condemn them though I will say one thing to them and that is that they should change their approach.

As a minnow myself, I believe that there are two things that I should focus on more than focusing on the earnings. A lot of you will probably wonder where I get this from but we will get there eventually. The two things that I will be sharing are both equally important in their own right. The first being content while the second being interaction. Content is king, without content...you cannot get anywhere. If you just spam or plagiarize then people will eventually lose interest or worse you might get flagged.

Making sure that you have original content to share with your followers or the people who visit Steemit will keep them coming back for more. It could be about anything that you like, for example, food, sports, travel e.t.c. The sky is the limit when it comes to what you can talk about, there will always be people who would be interested in reading them and commenting. This is where interaction comes in.

If you don't interact with the people visiting your blog and thank them or discuss the points they bring up...do you think they will stick around for a long time? Some will because they are your friends and there will also be those that are just curating because they found your post worthwhile but eventually they will jump to other users. Retaining users means talking to them, sharing ideas with them and holding discussions. No one wants to deal with a silent person...it's similar to talking to a brick wall.

If you are able to focus on these two points then I believe that even if you have low earnings in the beginning...on the long run you will be able to start making something and it will only grow from there. STEEM doesn't make Steemit...we the users that blog on this platform do. Without interaction...it would take a long while to get to where you want to.

Sorry for the long rant, I hope what I have learned so far is something everyone can discuss with me and I hope that I can make myself better through these discussions.

Much love from me steemians! <3

Kyrios.

You are right. I just write whatever I feel like writing. I am by no standards a great writer but I do my best. Good post!

Keep writing brother, it doesn't matter if you are a professional writer or just an average one. What we all will look for is something that we can either relate to or learn something from and talk about. Free form writing is a good means to get into discussions :)

Way to go @kyrios and @rodeo670.

This place is becoming more and more interesting by the day because of the quality of posts found here. I totally agree with you on your stated points.
I am personally working on myself to make sure that I meet up with content and interaction standards.
This will never be like Fb where retarded half-baked ideas are passed on from pillar to post plus all the unnecessary drama.

We are all more matured here.
Remain awesome!

I doubt it will ever become like fb. Steemit will become something better, something unique and worthwhile for people to engage on as a social media platform and yes I agree with the unnecessary drama. To be honest the only time I ever get on FB is when my wife posts some pictures of my daughter and forces me to go comment on them :P

@kyrios

Thanks for sharing your story. To success in steemit you need creativeness and unique thinking and little bit investment with continuous effort and interaction.

Time itself is a form of investment and if you are not willing to spend the time and instead just want to spam then that investment will bring nothing. I totally agree with you on creativeness and unique thinking mate. I hope more people are able to bring that to the table :)

Content is always the king, but again the engagement within the community helps that content to be in that King. Engagement within the community is the best way to succeed in the community, not only the earnings but the bonding you get.

Ofcourse without content it would be difficult to hold discussions, it would be difficult to engage but without engagement how will we be able to learn and come to know the person that made the post?. Both are the most important forms of marketing and getting to know the community. The stronger the bonds, the more people will want to read what you write and discuss things with you:). I love the communities that I am part of and love to talk with people in them though sometimes its limited due to the time constraints but even still...I am thankful that I was able to become part of these communities and meet such wonderful people like you @codingdefined.

Awesome point about interacting with visitors. Retain them!

The more you talk and engage with them in your posts the more they are willing to come back and share in the discussion otherwise they feel left out bro.

Hey @kyrios! Thank you so much for the shoutout and for including a link to my contest! I really appreciate it :)

Retaining users means talking to them, sharing ideas with them and holding discussions.

I wholeheartedly agree! If you'll notice, pretty much every comment I leave on people's posts is at least a paragraph long, if not several paragraphs. I never comment just to comment, I never leave one liners like "good post" or even the notorious "follow for follow" type of comment.

I understood from the start that it's about building community with other users of the platform, the money making aspect is just a nice added bonus for being a real human being and showing your genuine appreciation when you find good content.

STEEM doesn't make Steemit...we the users that blog on this platform do.

That really is the bottom line here. I think the sooner we can push out the spammers and those who have the completely wrong idea about Steemit, the bigger and better we can grow our community, and the more Steemit will truly explode and take off. Outsiders will see that we truly have a top-notch community here and they will become inspired to join in on the fun. :)

How do you do that in your comments?

You just type a > on a new line before the text that you want to quote. :)

Hehe I was wondering about the same thing as well. But someone beat me to the punch and asked you about it already on how to quote hehe. Anyways anytime brother. You deserve that shoutout not only for reaching your milestone but also for an awesome contest that you are running.

On a second note, it will be difficult but some day we will be able to weed out or hopefully change the views of the spammers and see some original content from them instead. Keep steeming brother and I hope you can reach 1000 followers soon :)

Thank you so much for your support @kyrios! I really do appreciate it so much. And for showing me to Steemit Philippines :P I hope more people join my contest, especially the people in that group. It would be awesome to see how Steemit is helping Filipinos too :)
