Maybe you have dreamt of making a good and consistent living on Steemit

When you were told about Steemit, you probably believed that it was too good to be true, then after doing your own research you found out that it was true

You probably went on to envision a wonderful future where you will blog everyday and scoop up your daily portion from the reward pool

Steemit does't Care

Steemit is not your ATM. For you to even withdraw Money from an ATM you must have deposited something in the first place, and here on Steemit you have to deposit value and Hardwork

There is no path on this platform that will take you to overnight riches. The only path here is your effort, the strategy you employ and your ability to provide value to your audience

There are a lot of people who beat themselves up everyday for not joining Steemit ealier or not joining when they were told about it at first, but the truth is that anyone who joins Steemit by December 2018 is still an early adopter

And a lot of people still think that the USP of Steemit is the Steem that is been payed out daily, that is just the basic advantage of Steemit, I am not saying the Money is not Important, I still feel sad if my post does not make much because I know the amount of work I put into making them

But i still remind myself daily that this is about the long game, I might be losing the battle but if I keep at it, I will eventually win the War

The people who are being paid all the big bucks going into Influencer Marketing at Facebook, Twitter and Instagram now are the people who have made a name for themselves in their Niche, they took out time to grow an audience that they are interactive with

Value People

The Magic 1% can get where they want quicker due to the level of friendship or rapport that they have with Whales, but sitting down everyday and complaining about it will not help you, the remaining 99% have to Strategise and to find out way that they can get what they want

There is a Initiative we are currently working on on the Bluewaves project that will enable everyone leverage the offline and communal rewards that Steemit Provides, you must not get all the benefits of the platform from the rewards pool

You also have to respect everybody, you might not know whether the person next to you has a solution to a nagging problem you are facing, a person who you feel has low Steem power might be involved in other projects on this platform and they are being rewarded with money straight to their bittrex or bitshares wallet

I see bloggers who fail to reply the comments on their posts and they end up complaning about Whales when they themselves neglect people that call on them, you need to value and help people whenever you can, this platform is still in Infancy and there are a lot of opportunities around

The only way to see this opportunities is if you focus less on the reward pool and look for ways to add value to people close to you, blog about what you are familiar with. Someone came to me yesterday and told me that he has Interest in Music but don't know how to create content about Music

When he finished stating his dilemma, I gave him a run down of the different ways he could build his blog around the Music genre,by the time I was done, it was obvious to both of us, that he could not even Implement everything that I listed out

You have to seek out positive Inspiration and Motivation that you will back with strategic actions. You have to seek out avenues for you to grow your personal brand, some people have been taking harmful decisions that will affect them wrongly down the line on this platform

And despite the advice from many they choose to remain on the wrong path. This has led many people accounts being flagged to oblivion. If you must be stubborn, be stubborn in the right way, follow the right path and don't quit till you get what you want

I see some people leave Steemit when things are not going on as planned, they leave and go back to Facebook and Whatsapp to waste their Internet subscription on irrelevant things. Meanwhile people have built awesome profiles on Non Paying sites like Behance, Medium and Unsplash and used it to leverage offline opportunities

You also need to be very careful about being fixated on certian conceptions about Steemit. If you work hard and long with the wrong perception, you will still be wrong

Nobody Owes You Anything

You also need to understand the Mentality of this Platform, Steemit gives more than it asks for, so you need to also work with that Mindset, you have to know that you are not entiltled to anything, whether it is Steem or attention

There is a popular plaugue that we all suffer and that is many followers but little upvotes, and most days it looks as if getting the attention is impossible, there are in some occassions where all what a person wants in the post is comments and even if the post makes little, the individual will still be happy due to the number of comments the post got

You have to know that you are not entitiled to anything, people may follow you and still not Interact with your content, if you want to grasp their attention you have tof first give them yours and also create something that they will find interesting

No matter how good or wise you are, you cannot get an automatic right to someones attention, you have to balance giving and asking. I am a member of many Steemit communities on Discord and something funny normally happens in all of them

People drop links of their posts in the Post Promotion channels and then leave without bothering the post of others, at the end of the day, no one's post gets read, the truth is that you can have anything you want in life if only you help others get what they want

pexels-photo-388241.jpeg

You might be awesome at what you do, but no one will know if you don't sell yourself

Some people are also discouraged that they know nothing about blogging or branding themselves, that is not true. It is all about learning the skills and being a part of a community that encourages you

There is no special gene for content creation even for someone who feels that his niche is too boring, there are a lot of creative things you can do in your niche if you get the right guidance, @papa-pepper creatively blogs about his daily farm activities

You have to work both hard and smart or nothing will happen and you will end up joining the mass exodus from Steemit, pressure is priviledge, your situation should ignite you to find creative ways to Improve you brand and get the visibility you need to succeed

And you have to be patient, I knew how I started my journey on this platform,and I know what I have achieved though it will not be visible to those looking at Steem Power. Know you will have good days and bad days, but you will always learn more in the bad days

What other misconceptions did you have or are you seeing on Steemit, and what are the problems that you will like to be addressed?. Let me know in the comments below

Strong words here. Well said

I think we all have to emulate the habit of reading and also change the get rich quick on steemit mindset
Thanks for sharing @ogochukwu

Very good point there

Hello @michealcj

Post engagement is very Important. If you do it well it make you Standout from a sea of others who just post spam comments.

Hey @ogochukwu, you couldn't be more right, adding value to Steemit is about what you as an individual can give!

I still feel sad if my post does not make much because I know the amount of work I put into making them

I feel this too, but even one thoughtful comment that helps me know that someone cared, can really make my day. I thought, why not be that person first?

The hardest thing I think during my short time here, was working on my understandings with myself, and nurturing a positive and helpful attitude. Sometimes I wanted to be helpless and have people help me, but then I realize that this behavior will not get me any closer to my goals. I love your motivational work, we can all get there-

one day at a time.

Yes @shello . I agree with you. Blogging on Steemit is hard and most time you feel that your work is undervalue. But I am learning to evaluate my post not by the amount it makes but by the amount of value it was able to bring others.

@ogochukwu

That is a good lesson to learn @ogochukwu, hope you don't mind if I borrow that perspective for myself. Helping others is most important!

Steemit is a microcosm of life and not utopia. Just like in life some things don't just turn out the way we want it. So everyone should remember that next time your fine posts earns less than a dollar or nothing . Steemit is not a get rich quick scheme. Keep hope alive. Keep steeming ✌️

Hello @greenrun

Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I have a lot of Fine posts that did not turn out well, but I was just glad that it brought Value to my audience.

@ogochukwu

I think that value to people reading it should be considered. Some posts from last year with $0 is something I found very useful. People really think along that line.

Aint gonna be an easy ride, but I'm in, So I'm in... We can do it together.

Thanks for reading and your constant engagement @pangoli

You're welcome Sir

Steemit is for real a long run, but long run take you to a far place on the top :)

Thats very true @dennisbak. Steemit is a marathon, not a Sprint.

This is that kind of post one comes back to read again and again.

It's really a nice regulator-post in relation to the kind of mindset needed in the platform, especially for upstarts.

Thanks for this modus-operandi @ogochukwu

Hello @idunique

I am glad that this post was able to bring you value.

Thanks for reading @ogochukwu

Good point there as always.
If we keep together, surround yourself with people who are putting effort into this and who are trying to contribute, we will make it

Thanks for reading and your kind words @faces

Hello @ogochukwu

Steemit is not your ATM. For you to even withdraw Money from an ATM you must have deposited something in the first place, and here on Steemit you have to deposit value and Hardwork

This certainly what most newbies don't understand. However, for those of us like myself who always recruit virgin people without any blogging experience, it is important to tell them they will make money. When they come, they will discover everything and will take a decision whether to stay or not. Telling them how difficult it is is scaring them away. Good thoughts

@eurogee

Hello @eurogee

That is why it is Important for them to join a community. They will still waste their Internet subscription if the go back to Facebook.

@ogochukwu

Very well said. Thank you for opening our eyes for the truth.
