Over $3 million raised so far by company that is going to use Steem blockchain
Many are not aware of Bobs Repair and the money they are raising to build a system that reduces review fraud and helps lower prices in home repair. John McAfee recently tweeted an article out that was posted on Steemit and he is part of this project as well.
They are currently raising funds through a token sale which is still active for 26 days. What I found interesting is the fact that they are going to use the Steem blockchain to accomplish this goal. This sort of use case really bodes well for Steem and Steemit in my opinion. I could imagine many such scenarios and use cases being available on the Steem blockchain and that would drive a lot of people into the system. The fact that they raised 3 million already means some work will get done towards this end and it would be great if it works out.
Below is part of the white paper that you can download from their website. I would be curious if anyone looked into this more or knows anything about the devs etc. Either way I think there are good things on the horizon for Steem so I know I will continue to power up because we may have an exciting 2018 in store for us!
I read about this a week or so ago, but it's a really big deal and super exciting. No one really uses Facebook or Reddit aside from promotion, so for the Steem blockchain to be used in commercial applications is incredibly exciting and great for all of us.
Bob's Repair is making a genius move I think. If it's successful then they'll be a trendsetter in their industry and the exposure will generate more business, if it doesn't implement so well, they've still put themselves out in the global spotlight as a company willing to use emerging technologies.
Considering companies have driven their stock price through the roof merely by putting 'blockchain' in their company name, Bob's Repair has gone about this really intelligently.

I have to admit, I dug into it a little more and am a bit disappointed. Their white paper shows they’re using Ethereum for smart contacts and escrow services. As far as I know Steem does have this ability even if tools aren’t fully developed yet.
They don’t even mention launching an SMT, just that reviews will be on the Steem chain.
I wish they’d ditch the Ethereum and go pure Steem.

I saw that as well but part of me chalks it up to Steem still not having tokens set up etc, Ethereum is just a more mature market right now. While I feel it could be more as well, the thing is I will take it that its even being used!

I think it's great how something like this which requires a high level of trust can be placed on a transparent blockchain system like ours. And there are so many more applications of a similar type- education reviews, medical services, even banks- that could create similar apps.
Also bodes really well for those who have investments in the Steem token!

It's great to see how well the idea of a "social media blockchain" scales/adapts to other projects. I'm also glad they're making use of Steem rather than launching their own coin. It's a great idea, since people have their reputation on the line - nobody is going to pump a crap business just for a few dollars.
So how long before I can use it to find someone to fix my dish washer?
