Interesting first few days here, of course I went gonzo with the upvote button! So much good content, it is easy to get lost and even more easy to upvote 20 different posts dealing with 20 different topics - all in the span of an hour or so. These are my observations as a newcomer and a sharing of my experience, in no way to be considered a "howto" guide on anything.
Balance and patience seems to be the key if one wishes to maintain some "influence". Like I believe many others have done/are doing, I jumped into this site as if it were just any other social network. Without thinking of voting power and influence and value of content, I just "got to it". And as "it" transpired I couldn't help to begin to start thinking, "Well why is that person's post worth so much? Why is this person's vote worth so much? Why was my vote worth 2 cents a second ago and now only worth 1 cent? And how in the world are all my other posts worth < $1 while this brand new post of mine shot up to $4 all by the comment and vote of one person !??!".
Long story short, reflecting upon these questions led me to a very interesting article, published by @scrooger. Which in turn advised me to keep an eye on my own voting power and influence by going to steemnow & steemd, being sure to replace your steemit user name in the appropriate fields. Not only will it tell you your current voting power, it also gives you a bunch of other stats related to your account here.
Upvotes are like punches, the more you use in any given period of time the more it will always weaken the effects of each new blow.
😋 So I have learned to use each upvote as if it has power that can be drained, 😋
😋 because it is and it does. 😋

Unfortunately, I can not make an upvote of your record - my steem power is still small. But in the future I will come back and do it. If you like me, make an upvote of my comment and follow me.
Your upvote will allow you to give more money to new users, such as you. Let's make Steem better together!
I follow you, and I hope you will follow me.
All the money I earn will be donated to charity.
Steem on!
