Increased voting power & curation rewards and my thoughts on how to make the most of our here & nowsteemCreated with Sketch.

thank you steemit.jpg

It seems that my vote is now worth $0.06 even with my voting power down at 85%. Though this amount is smaller if I vote within the first 30mins.

I currently have just over 6000 Steem Power - which for those of you who don't know, is the main thing that effects our voting power & curation rewards.

I vote consistently for around 150 people at varying percentages (all done for me by a regularly reviewed auto-voter bot, compliments of @steemvoter) so I have seen an increase in my curation rewards too, now averaging around 12 SBD a week. And I'm not going to lie to you... this is not my only account running a bot voting system. So in total I am averaging more than this.

Important Note

Your voting power starts to drop if you vote for any more than around 40 users at 100% so you need to adjust your percentages accordingly. The key is finding a balance which does not push your voting power down.

To give you a basic idea, my group of 150 people get my vote at an average of around 35%, and I choose to vote around the 25 minute mark for most, earlier if the person is very popular.

Those who I have great faith in will always get my vote at 100% 15mins after posting.

Also, it is VERY important to be aware that having a voting bot does not mean that you should stop reading the posts of others!

Comments are getting decent payouts too now and it is much harder to leave the kind of comment that will get rewards if you haven't read the post.

And taking money out of the equation (as one must!) you will always find what you are looking for on Steemit, for it is a reflection of us and what we are as a community. As ONE community who live together in one location known as Earth we speak the truth of our here and now and we do it openly or we do it in anonymity. And through the powers of Blockchain our truths will be permanent features of this amazing thing called THE INTERNET which I would say is here to stay :)

Final Observation

My voting power appears to take longer to recover when I have been over-voting... which is quite often frankly, as I always check the new & trending feeds to look for more people to follow and upvote. And newcomers not getting what they deserve always get my vote at 100% and a resteem too.

This is something we should all be doing by the way!

Encouraging newcomers with our votes, comments & resteems will help them see the value of this platform, which is key to them sticking around in those confusing early months. And in the end this will benefit us all when they power up their Steem into Steem Power.

Steem on my friends & I hope some of you are diving into those crypto trading markets as I have done.

After making some calculations this morning I can tell you now that with an investment of $350 spread over the course of the last three weeks (whilst I cashed out some Steem & Steem power), I increased that to over $1000 worth of crypto now in 12 different currencies and am starting to see a nice return on my $200 worth of mining contracts.

Watch this space for a more detailed report on my latest obsessions:

  • Multiple Steemit accounts
  • Crypto Market Trading
  • Burst Asset Exchange & Dividend payments
  • Genesis Mining Contracts
  • The Burst Casino & it's very friendly community... but don't get addicted to rolling that dice!

It is my pleasure. Thanks for commenting :)

It's nice to see upvotes being worth a little more, these days. I've recently taken myself back out of bots and guilds because I do a lot of personal reading/curating and commenting. I've been contemplating a second Steemit account purely for my artwork (while also testing a connection to PeerHub and/or OpenBazaar), but time will tell if that ever gets to be a reality!

Evidently, I'm stalking you too.
I don't know why I keep seeing you er'where I go.
You'd think we had the same preferences for intelligent people. Or something. wink

I think that is a fine idea for a second account. And the main reason why I started my second one. Different accounts for different subjects. Otherwise these individual subjects seem to get lost in one single (and busy!) account.

Great article. Mr Samstonehill.

averaging around 12 SBD a week

how much is that in dollars?

SBD is pegged to the dollar. So one SBD will always be around the value of $1. Though it does seem to fluctuate a bit.

Hi,
I see you do mining how do you do this I've read a couple of 'how toos' but I can never do it (I'm a rookie) haha hope you can help! @samstonehill

Don't worry. I am also basically a rookie too. All I did was get an account with www.genesis-mining.com and buy $208 worth of two year contracts with Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash & Ether.

Here you can see how I have distributed my $208. It's all about TH/s or MH/s being as high as possible... but this costs more. So start small and build up. Unless you are in a position to invest lots of course :) The rewards are paid out daily and it is immediately evident that this thing works!

Even when my computer is switched off.

I will report more on the exact return figures in a post coming soon.

Cheers followed!
Look forward to it

Cloud mining for the win!! :)

So say I have $50 how would you invest this?
I've signed up just not sure what to do or how much money I will make @samstonehill

Honestly your guess is as good as mine at this point. I will know more on the results of my investments in a week. Though if I was in your position I would go to Upgrade Hashpower and buy some Dash & Ether contracts :) The MH/s can be upgraded further when you have more money.

Nice Sam ! My vote power at 68%, so I upvoted your posting manual. I adjust my bot stop auto vote when my vote power below 70%. :)

Where can I see % of my Voting Pover?

You can use eSteem aplication on android, you can look at playstore or you see at steemd.com. on steemd.com you can see completed report. Nice !

I watch my voting power percentage within my voting bot program. SteemVoter. This way I can make immediate adjustments to the percentages if I see the power going down. When you stop voting it seems to recover at around 5% a day.

Thanks. Yes, I have to do the same thing sometimes, but almost have it tuned perfectly now, so I don't have to switch on and off, keeping my percentage above 80%.

It seems that my vote is now worth $0.06 even with my voting power down at 85%. Though this amount is smaller if I vote within the first 30mins.

I actually had no idea our vote is worth less before 30 minutes. Ooops.

I learned this only recently too. Yes, a higher curation percentage is achieved when the vote is made just after the 30min mark, but the catch is that many people have already voted by then and the pay-out may not increase so much after your vote. Which means less for you in the end. But if the post goes on to make a bunch more after your vote, you will see maximum rewards from this.

Hi @samstonehill, I just upvoted this post and it went up by $0.05!!

Thanks! That seems about right given your Steem Power. Have you checked your current voting percentage?

I always vote at 100%, or do you mean how much of my vote I use on a daily basis? Where do you check it?

If you create an account with busy.org you will find an alternative version of steemit. This version has a few upgrades (though I personally still prefer steemit) one of which your voting power displayed under your name. So, the more you vote at 100% the lower you voting power falls, meaning that you are not actually voting at 100% any more. I try to keep my voting power above 80% and do this by voting regularly at around 30% for 150 people. Only if you are voting regularly for 30-40 people can you keep voting at 100% without losing your overall voting power. It's a never ending balancing act basically :)

That's why I use Steem Voter to help me manage this balance. But in reality, it is only complicated because I choose to vote for so many people!

Thanks for the reply, I might have the same problem, as I vote for all my feeds on a daily basis, and also try to vote for some new people daily.

Yes, sounds like you need to keep track of that voting power on busy.org or you will end up with no power left and your vote will be worth nothing. I learned the hard way when I realised I was voting at 1% for weeks :)

Gosh.
Now I need to do a bit more research into this because I've truly decided to take this wee spot of the interweb seriously.
I have missed being a part of a collective -- I blogged for years at Xanga, then Diary X -- then I actually had my own award winning magazine (The Hiss Quarterly)

Sheesh.
What happened next?
Oh.
Yeah.
My Teenagers. High School & College.

Anyway -- the point being I intend to stalk you. I need more info and the way you present it is a way I can relate.
Thank you for that.

My pleasure. Please feel free to ask any questions at all. Happy to help. And make full use of the FB group too. There are many helpful people there too :)
