What the End of Randowhale Means to Me
This morning I opened up Steemit and was surprised by all the lamentations of Randowhale as he announces his retirement. I have mixed feelings at it because Randowhale was a big part of what helped get me started. Most of my posts went unnoticed and unvoted until I discovered Randowhale. I was hesitant to use him at first - after all - I didn't know if it woul really pay off - but at 1 SBD why not take the risk?
The first time I used Randowhale I was excited about finally breaking more than $1 on my posts and thought to myself - this could work.
At the same time , I also had internal conflicts about having to pay a bot to get votes - but in the bigger scheme of things isn't that just marketing - using my availabel resources to find real viewers? If enough people see my post, then maybe some of them will actually like it instead of just blindly voting for it. Still, I have been shying away from the bot recently and I have definitely been feeling it. I stopped using it when my payouts were less than what I was paying Randowhale - I saw it was happening to a lot of other Steemians too and people were registering their complaints on his page. I don't know if that is related , but it likely more than a coincidence that his payouts drop - Steemians complain and now suddenly he is shutting down.
I had stopped using him for the last few days and the posts I've made have suffered from it with low readership and even lower payouts. Just when I was thinking that maybe I would give it another shot - only to find out that he is no longer. I guess this is part of my growing and learning to swim on my own. I really liked the boost I got from Rando, but now I must work diligently to make my posts as interesting as possible and to put out content as much as I can.
Losing Randowhale to me, means that I must work to find something deep inside myself and harness it. I can no longer use the crutch of an auto-bot to grow my base. I will keep putting out new content each day - hopefully interesting, educational, and entertaining. I will keep reaching out to my followers and try to keep them engaged. I am still new here , but I would like to build a thriving community in the real estate topic. I have been sharing my thoughts more often as well as pics of the house flip we are working on, some article from my weekly meetup group and other general news about real estate , cryptocurrency, or anything that generally catches my attention.
It loos like it's time to learn to ride the bike on my own. Randowhale was holding the bike seat for me... but somewhere along the line he has removed his guiding hand and now I must ride on my own now. Given time, I hope to ride this bike to the top of Mt Everest. Please join me on my journey and lets help each other up that Mountain.
Make it Great Day!

Thanks - many of my posts are about investing and real estate so I'll check out your page since I'm interested in finances.
Looks like we've got some interests in common. I'll check your site too
Thanks for explaining your rationale here. Yeah, steem is kind of a ghost town of bots, sadly. I wish it wasn't. Trying to add to the network effect myself.
I don't blame you for using bots to increase your viewership, it's easier for established users to moan about vote buying but for newer users it's hard to get noticed and often our posts go under-appreciated, using the resources at your disposal to grow it's no sin as long as you don't damage other people in the process.
Thanks for the feedback - you're right , building an audience can take some time and for minnows, it can be tough to get some exposure. Thanks for checking out my article - I hope you find my other posts interesting enough to follow and share.
