[Steemit] Why I Upvote Quality Comments
Upvotes should never be the motivation for leaving a comment, but it is a satisfying reward! If nobody upvotes comments, you might as well be on FACEBOOK, where you never get an upvoted comment.
Should I Upvote Everything?
No, just use common sense.
Should you upvote bots? Maybe, if you want to support them. But probably not.
Should you upvote spam? NEVER! I prefer the MUTE button.
Should you upvote insincere comments. No! If a total stranger appears and says something like "Nice post, follow me and I'll follow you." or something like "Don't forget to upvote me." Just don't do it. No upvote for you.

You can rate your comments 1% to 100%. Be generous. Be courteous. Be practical. Be kind. Be considerate. Build relationships. Get to know people on steemit. Learn about them. Care about them. And don't be a jerk.

Good to see that you judge the comments and choose to vote on only quality content. But for a change, if you wish to vote on a quality post instead of a comment, do visit my latest blog post 😜. Well, frankly I ain't looking for upvotes, I'm looking for a signature on petition linked in my post there. Just by signing or resteeming you can help saving thousands of lives.
BTW, using that Chrome extension needs a minimum of 72 SP. So why not recommend eSteem app instead? It doesn't require any minimum SP for a vote slider. And its creator is also coming up with a desktop version too. In fact he had already released on about 8 months back but is coming up with a more updated version of it now.
For me, I neither use a smart phone nor a Chrome. I love Firefox 😊
I tried installing eSteem on my phone, but it wouldn't let me login. I've heard really good things about it, I would like to try it.
The vote slider can be used with Firefox also by installing tampermonkey with this addon:

Then copy the Vote Slider Script into tampermonkey:

With a little "tweaking" you can change the script to work with less than 72 SP.

So.... I upvote my own comments... any point in that?
Most people upvote their own posts, but are not so quick to upvote their own comments. I've upvoted my own comments occasionally, but I don't make it a practice.
Every upvote drains your voting power, so if you upvote yourself at 100% voting power, it goes down to 97%. Upvote yourself again, then 96%. After upvoting yourself 12x on a bunch of your own comments, you'll find yourself at around 60% or so. By the time you get to upvoting somebody else, it will only be worth about HALF of what it would have been. So you are depriving others of more valuable upvotes, since you've already spent it on yourself. What I've learn on Steemit so far? Selfishness will not get you very far.
Keep in mind, steemit is all about building your reputation. If all anybody sees about you is that you upvote your own comments, it will be more difficult to encourage people to upvote YOU.
