Potential MSP Abuse Report: Sun Oct 14 00:00:00 to Sun Oct 21 00:00:00

in #steemit6 years ago

List of activities between Sun Oct 14 00:00:00 - Sun Oct 21 00:00:00

These stats are made available to support fighting MSP abuse and it highlights users with potential suspicious behaviours. Part of the #minnowsupportproject is an upvote bot, free of charge for all members. The upvotes are nothing to get excited about but more meant like a "pat on the back" for new Steemians starting out.

But the problem is that people are trying to abuse the bot, by using multiple accounts, or upvoting plagiarised or lousy content. Listed posts below are from those who used the @minnowsupport bot. The stats below are divided into three categories. If you find yourself tagged you might want to consider your behaviour.

Posts below are from the last 7 days but delayed by 24h to allow for actions from Cheetah and Steemcleaners.

Cheetah/Steemcleaners Downvotes

This is the most severe of the three categories. Receiving a downvote/flag from @cheetah or @steemcleaners is normally associated with some serious spamming or plagiarism. The number of false positives in this category is pretty low, so if you want to save your reputation and avoid being banned, get an understanding of what is wrong and fix it.

Low reputation

Any account with a reputation lower than 15 will be tagged here. There could be a valid explanation why your reputation is so low, but for most users, having a reputation below 15 is far from normal...

There is a built-in block mechanism in @minnowsupport that prevents voting on low reputation accounts. It means that any account in this category have had a drop in reputation since the bot vote.

Cheetah Upvotes

Cheetah sends out "warnings", by the means of an upvote and a comment when it finds similar content elsewhere on the Internet. This category can include many false positives. Quite often repetitive Steemit content can catch Cheetah's attention. If you are tagged, please check that you are not guilty of plagiarism without knowing about it.

Hope you enjoyed the stats!

AGAIN ?!?!
I really hate badly programmed bots like @cheetah.
What I hate even more are bots making judges on these badly programmed bots.

On the other side: thanks for mentioning my weekly contest. If anybody reads this, he or she will see it's fun and has nothing to do with plagiarism or whatever @cheetah and @dorabot think about it.

Let's stay positive: thanks for the PR!!!

You should ask for a whitelist as you have a valid reason for repetitive content.

The notifications from Cheetah actually fills a purpose as there are plenty of people not understanding the concept of plagiarism. Not all will listen, but it will help some avoid getting on the blacklist.

But for the purpose of this report, it doesn't really fill any purpose, other than acknowledging the cheetah upvotes/"warnings". For MSP/PALnet, nothing is being done with them, so I have already thought of removing that section.

All the best!

Thanks for your reply @danielsaori.
I totally understand the idea but it's like the government investing everybody (millions) to find this one bad guy.
I contacted @steemcleaners already to get me whitelisted. In my eyes, this is reverse argumentation. I need to explain why "I'm innocent" and I really thought we left the middle ages some months ago.
Normally, a well-programmed bot called cheetah should see a pattern and tell steemcleaners to check manually.
I also understand that they have thousands of checks to do.
Still, I think that a bot should not make any conclusions on a not 100% verified other bot.

We might be moving in the wrong direction then. I do not want to prove my innocence!
If I'm proved wrong you can punish me - but do not turn this around (I address cheetah here).

I understand your frustration, but the cheetah upvote is not accusing anyone. So there is no need to prove your innocence.

If Steemcleaners would do a manual intervention it would require a lot of work. It is not a perfect world, but at least it fills a purpose to inform all those who are not aware they are guilty of plagiarism and they can stop it in time.

Mhhhh, how can a clearly stated citation of 3 sentences with stated source above be plagiarism ... ???????????? Especially when it was about the support of the netcoins contest ... please check this manually, thanks a lot for your support!

You received an upvote from Cheetah.
"If you are tagged, please check that you are not guilty of plagiarism without knowing about it."
The cheetah vote is there to bring attention to similar content. It is for people who are not aware of plagiarism, so you have nothing to worry about.
